Skincare

Ah the Inkey List! I feel like this is a brand many of us have tried and have (hopefully) been pretty impressed with. Firstly; they're super affordable and accessible, and secondly; their overall approach to skincare is really user-friendly. You certainly won't have any questions about where to slot these products into your routine, something you may run into a few Qs about when purchasing from similar brands such as the Ordinary. I was lucky enough to receive these products in PR, but honestly I would 100% spend my money on them again!

Oat Cleansing Balm // Now this one I did buy with my own money and have already repurchased! I was on the hunt for a new balm cleanser that didn't break the bank and ticks all of the boxes when it comes to a good effective makeup remover. I love how gentle this is on the face and eyes, you don't need to worry about any irritation with this one thanks to the oat. It's very moisturising, though I always follow up with my full skincare routine anyway, but my skin never feels tight or dry after using this.

Fulvic Acid Brightening Cleanser // Next up is another cleanser which acts more of a second cleanse in the evening or the first step in my morning routine. This is aimed at brightening the skin and evening out the complexion. I love this in the morning especially as I do feel like it really helps to liven up my dull skin and add a little more luminosity. Don't be put off by the word acid - it's very gentle and also contains Aloe which is great for more sensitive skin.

2% Hyaluronic Acid // This is a cult favourite from the range and I too absolutely love how this works on the skin. For treating dehydrated skin HA is a fab ingredient that I always reach for when I want my skin to appear more plump and hydrated. This is a very simple, fuss free formula, but it delivers excellent results. I always apply this on damp skin (as recommended) and it sinks in beautifully leaving my skin ready for moisturiser.

10% Niacinamide // This is an ingredient I haven't really played around with too much until this entered my skincare stash. This is another serum step that I love to team up with vitamin C - the two both help to brighten the skin and fade any dark spots / pigmentation. Niacinamide is also known for controlling oil, something I will most certainly need as we move into the summer months! This particular formula does also contain 1% Hyaluronic Acid so it's nice and moisturising too.

Polyglutamic Acid Serum // This is another ingredient that is new to me and I've quickly become obsessed! This helps to lock in moisture and smooth the skin. It's kind of like a beefed up HA with smoothing benefits - sounds pretty great right? In the morning this creates a lovely base for makeup as it smoothes over any texture and plumps out fine lines. I don't think you would need both this and the HA serum in one routine, but they are both very lovely indeed!

Symbright Moisturiser // I adore this moisturiser underneath makeup as well! It has a subtle pearlescent sheen that looks so dewy and beautiful on the skin. The formula feels like a lightweight lotion so it's very nourishing but doesn't feel heavy or too thick to use in the morning. This also contains Plum Extract (who knew that was a thing?!) and Red Alge to help moisturise and boost radiance. Apparently Plum Extract contains more vitamin c than an orange so it's got to be good!

Welcome to today's post, and here's a little round-up of some skincare I simply can't get enough of lately. My skin has been changing with the weather, like it does every year frankly, so with that comes a little switch around in my skincare drawer. I'm still doing all the same steps, it's just I'm really looking for products that will give me a little more hydration and nourishment. I do have dry skin so I love a more creamy formulation, but I do also favour a gel texture for wearing under makeup - anyone else?

Antipodes Manuka Honey Mask * // I was very kindly sent this by the Antipodes team and I am so so happy as it's exactly what my skin craves in the Autumn Winter months. If you like the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask, this is very similar in texture, just without the peppermint scent and the cooling sensation. It's obviously a mask, however you definitely don't have to rinse it off, it works perfectly as an overnight treatment - just like a thick night cream. The honey is incredibly soothing and hydrating on the skin, it's one I've been reaching for a few times a week to keep my skin nourished.

The Body Shop Cleansing Balm // I always like to remind people how important double cleansing is, and that definitely doesn't mean heading into Space NK, or your local department store, and dropping £30 on something that will remove makeup! There are most certainly some affordable options worth checking out. This one from the Body Shop has been in my routine for years, literally years! I adore it! It doesn't sting the eyes when taking off mascara, it doesn't leave a weird film on the skin, it's not dry...the list goes on - it's gorgeous!

Fresh Sugar Lip Balm // Of course we can't forget about lip care in the colder months. Hands up who's lips always get super chapped as soon as the weather turns...I'm right there with you! Fresh do some lovely balms, they are a little more pricey than something you can pick up at Boots, but they feel (and smell) divine. I have the Coconut scent currently, but have also gone through their Caramel scent. This leaves your lips feeling so hydrated all day long!

Murad Vitamin C Serum * // In an attempt at keeping my skin fresh and glowy all Winter long, I have been slathering on the Vitamin C. This serum from Murad is lovely as it also contains Glycolic Acid which will further smooth and brighten the skin. I have been using this all summer, and will definitely continue over the coming months as I love the way it leaves my skin looking. Vitamin C is also great for texture and hyperpigmentation which I do suffer with around my chin and jawline especially. A must for maintaining a healthy, glowing complexion!

Glow Hub Nourish and Hydrate Toner Essence // All of my favourite words when it comes to skincare! This is a really great, and affordable, toner that helps to lock in that hydration as well as smoothing the skin. The toner/essence combo means that you're getting the resurfacing elements of a traditional toner, but you're also getting a boost of moisture from the essence. This is the perfect AM skincare product for me, and it makes it super quick as it basically like two steps in one!

I wanted to shine light on some body products I've been reaching for lately. My skin gets a lot dryer in the Autumn/Winter, and I think because I cover it up more with jumpers and jeans, I do tend to neglect it. These are all very effective products, and smell lovelyyy - minus the fake tan, the smell isn't bad, but I wouldn't exactly describe it as heavenly. I tend to talk a lot about the skincare I use on my face, but not so much the products I use on my skin everywhere else...so here we go!

Sunday Rain Body Scrub // I love a body exfoliator - my legs especially get very dry and can often be prone to lumps and bumps post-epilation (side note, if you want to know more about epilating and how I've found it let me know!). I try to combat that by exfoliating as often as I can remember. This is a lovely, fine physical scrub that really gets in there and removes dead skin. The smell is very pleasant as well, quite summery, but to be honest I love how uplifting it is. If this was in a squeezy bottle, this would be my perfect body product! You obviously don't want to over exfoliate, however every 2-3 days works well for me at keeping my body smooth and nourished. I also like to run a little over my feet to keep those looking acceptable - top tip!

Isle of Paradise Tanning Drops in Dark // I've been a fan of Isle of Paradise for a few years now, and I've used their medium face and body drops before, but I do find I can get away with the dark version. These drops are the easiest way to achieve a natural tan - even my mum comments on how nice the shade is, and trust me she would be the first to say if it was at all orangey! I love that you add the product into your moisturiser, that way you aren't skimping on hydration - the best of both worlds. I will use them on a mitt, I've tried without and it wasn't a good look...so to be safe I will always mix both my moisturiser and the drops on the mitt and apply from there. I find that the dark shade doesn't really need to be built up, you can get good colour payoff after the first use. I found this not to be the case with the medium drops, however if you like a more gradual tanning approach then they may be for you.

& Other Stories Perle de Coco // The nicest smelling body product I have EVER tried. You can't tell me I'm wrong, OK. This is very similar to the Bum Bum Cream that everyone raves about - the smells are practically the same (I do have both so I am equipped to say such things), however this one lingers on the skin for longer which I personally appreciate. This also has a pump...can you tell which one I prefer!? If you've been tempted by the Bum Bum Cream, I highly encourage you to pick this one up and I don't think you will be disappointed. It's a sweet scent, very vanilla and caramel heavy. The texture is lovely as well, super hydrating but not too thick that you have to wait 10 years to get dressed.

Aveeno Body Lotion // If you're after a body lotion to really hydrate and you're not too worried about smelling like a fresh batch of cookies, I would recommend Aveeno as a brand to have on your radar. They do moisturisers very very well, they are perfect for all my dry and sensitive skin readers out there. When my skin feels particularly lizard-like, this is my go-to. Also another pump...we love to see it. This particular lotion is un-fragranced, another great asset if you have sensitive skin. You can't go wrong with this as a good everyday body lotion!

Morning lovlies! I hope you're having a great week. I have a few products that I can't seem to put down at the moment - a couple are bits I've had in my collection for ages now, and others are slightly newer. I love to discover new products, but there's also nothing better than diving into your existing collection and finding some gems. I have a mix here...one skincare product, a hair product, and a couple of complexion bits. Do let me know what you're loving down below as I am always up for incorporating something new into my beauty routine.

Bare Minerals Original Foundation // So this is a new one for me, and my first attempt at using a mineral foundation. I have to say I'm really really loving it. I have dry skin, so admittedly I was hesitant to give this a go, but I took the plunge and I have been reaching for it loads. The rumours are true - this doesn't look dry! Crazy for a powder, but it manages to look luminous and natural on the skin. The lasting power is great, and the coverage is very customisable. The more you buff and work the product into the skin, the more coverage you will get. I'm not a huge fan of full coverage bases, so I don't go too crazy with this, but the little product I do use evens out my skin nicely and never looks cakey.

O&M Know Knott Leave-in-Conditioner // Ok, so when we moved out of London back in April this, along with a few other beauty products, were in a box that I had totally forgotten about. Fast forward 5 months and we have been reunited. I can't express how soft this leaves my hair, I adore it. My hair is quite long, therefore it is prone to getting pretty tangly - not when I use this however!! I love this brand, I've also tried one of their hair masks which is the nicest smelling hair product on planet earth - highly recommend checking them out. This is one I'll use on damp hair post-wash, it's very easy to spritz in and brush through. So after doing some digging, I've discovered it's no longer available!!!! Cry!!! The Kristin Ess Leave in Conditioner is a great alternative.

Glossier Super Bounce Serum // This is my second bottle of this serum, and I love it for morning and pm use. Hyaluronic serums are one of the skincare products I could never be without, and I will always have in my routine. I love how lightweight this is, yet it contains so much hydration that my skin loves. I also do love the packaging, Glossier's branding overall is very cute and appealing I must admit. I wrote a full review on this which I'll link here if you want to read more.

Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter // I've been back on my Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter hype! Is it a primer, is it a highlighter, no one really knows, but it's lovely. My favourite way to wear this is mixed in with another base product. The glow it gives is insane, something Charlotte does extremely well I'm sure you will agree. This manages to add a crazy amount of glow and radiance, yet it doesn't look chunky or too shimmery on the skin. It sinks in so beautifully leaving a lit-from-within sheen.

A Few Beauty Favourites: Some Old, Some New.

Hi everyone! Hope you've had a glorious weekend - who else is loving this warmer weather? The final hoorah for summer! I wanted to roundup some of my top Dermalogica products today. I know Dermalogica isn't the most affordable brand, and since becoming one of their ambassadors I've been super lucky to have been sent a selection of their range over the last couple of years (yes this post will include some PR samples!).  As a brand they are very science led, which I think is why their products work so well and are so effective.  The brand started back in 1983, by skin therapist Jane Wurwand, so it's safe to say they've been in the game for years and certainly know a thing or two about formulations. History lesson over...let's hop into my faves shall we?

Pre-Cleanse // I'll start from the beginning of my routine and touch a little on makeup removal. Pre-Cleanse is a gorgeous oil cleanser which removes makeup effortlessly and is the perfect first step in your routine. I don't currently have one in my skincare rotation, need to repurchase for sure, but I love how luxurious this feels on the skin. The scent is very spa like, which is quite fitting for the brand, and the way my skin feels after is heavenly! I don't find it stings my eyes either which is something I always look for.

Redness Relief Essence // I love an essence for calming and soothing the skin, this one in particular is gorgeous. It's very nice if you have sensitive or dry skin as the formula isn't at all irritating or packed full of fragrance. I also love to use this after I've epilated my legs as it doesn't make them feel itchy or dry! It's a great one to have in your cupboard for those dryer skin days where your skin can't tolerate much.

Biolumin C Serum and Eye Serum // Two from the Biolumin range now, and these may just be my all time faves! Vitamin C is an essential ingredient for me, it's a skincare powerhouse when it comes to brightening the skin and evening out any texture -my skin loves it! The eye serum is very very lightweight and really helps with my dark circles. I'm not targeting fine lines yet, so an eye product like this is perfect. The packaging is also great at preserving the product as it's completely opaque - same with the skin serum! The face serum is something I've been using daily and my skin is a lot more luminous and evened out. I also find that any under-the-skin bumps have been reduced, and overall my skin feels and looks a lot smoother. This stuff isn't cheap I will admit, but a good Vitamin C serum is something I would invest in time and time again.

Hydro Masque Exfoliant // This is a new one from Dermalogica, and it's no secret I love a face mask, so I was very excited for this launch. I was lucky enough to attend the virtual launch and got to see the product in action before it was released. Loving these zoom sessions with brands, anyone else?? The idea is that it exfoliates the skin without being dry. You can leave this on for as little as 5 minutes (winner) and it will leave the skin renewed, luminous, and healthy. The packaging it quite cool as well, I've not seen anything quite like it, but I love that you can really control the product, and you're not dipping your fingers into a pot every time. This is also SUPER cooling, it has that cucumber scent which feels so nice on the skin!

Prisma Protect SPF30 // There's not a lot of SPFs in my routine that I will consistently reach for everyday, it takes a lot to impress me, especially when I'm wearing them under makeup. This is one of the only formulas that doesn't seem to effect my makeup application in the slightest. I will always let it sink in for about 5-10 minutes, just to make sure it's not sitting on the skin when I go in with foundation etc. Being broad spectrum it offers the perfect amount of protection from the sun, so make sure you don't skip this step!! It's not completely white cast free - BUT if you're applying the correct amount of any SPF you will always get some white residue, it's inevitable unfortunately.

I think we all know about the REN Ready Steady Glow Toner - it's a staple in so many people's skincare collections, and I feel like it's always in those 'top skincare products' type posts we see dotted around the internet. I'm all for a toner, and personally hadn't tried one before that had some kind of acid in there, so I was pretty excited to start incorporating this into my routine. REN do make this in many different sizes, so if you're an avid user, or if you want a travel size to test it out, you will be able to find a good ml for your needs! A big plus in my books.

Let's talk about skin types before hopping into the review. My skin type is dry/combo, so it can be a little bit of everything depending on the weather, diet, water intake etc. I do struggle with some texture around my forehead and chin, something this claims to help with.

The packaging I'm low-key in love with - the pump dispenser is such a genius idea and I find it a lot easier to use. I would also recommend picking up some reusable cotton pads, which is my personal way of applying this, they are just as good normal pads but you can wash and reuse them!

As far as the ingredient list goes, this contains Lactic Acid, Willow Bark Extract and Azelaic Acid - together these will help to even out the skin tone, exfoliate, minimise pores, smooth the skin, and add radiance.  I would say it delivers on all of these claims - so yes it's worth the hype in my opinion.

I use this just in the evenings mainly, but I have used it in the mornings too if my skin is being particularly problematic. As I mentioned, I suffer with some texture around the face, and this really helps to minimise that. I've been using it for a good few months, so I feel qualified to recommend it if you too are suffering with similar issues. Even though my skin can lean more on the dry side I don't find the AHA ingredients to be too harsh for my skin. I will always follow with the rest of my skincare routine, but on the whole I haven't found it to strip my skin at all.

Would I repurchase? Yes!

ONE OF THE MOST RAVED ABOUT TONERS...BUT IS IT WORTH IT?

Today we're hopping into the bathroom to chat skincare! Possibly my favourite topic to discuss, because I feel like that really is the base to any beauty routine. My skin leans more on the dry and dehydrated side - there are days where my skin will literally drink up makeup (not very pretty) so I'm always on the hunt for products that will help to prevent that. Make sure you also check out the full routine over on my YouTube channel for more details.

Of course I always start by taking off my makeup, then follow that up with another cleanser. My double cleansing duo will be no surprise to you all - it's, of course, the Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Butter and the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel. Together they really hydrate and nourish the skin, leaving it prepped for my other products. I also throw in my Foreo Luna to ensure I'm really getting into my pores and efficiently cleaning out my skin. I'm not sure if the Luna Play has been discontinued?! I'm struggling to find it anywhere at the moment - can someone please confirm! Gutted if it has been as it's a great affordable option if you want to test it out.

Once my skin has been successfully cleansed I will pop some of the Ren Ready Steady Glow onto a reusable cotton round and swipe this across my face, focusing on the areas that are a little more textured. This is a great chemical exfoliant to remove any dead cells that are on the outermost layer of your skin. It is for daily use, so it's not too harsh, and I find it really great for smoothing and brightening.

I then go with an essence to further brighten the skin and to add luminosity. The Fresh Black Tea Treatment Essence also contains anti-pollutants so it's great for maintaining clear skin. Then I'm ready for eye cream, or in this case, an eye serum. The Dermalogica Biolumin-C Eye Serum has been SO lovely - I've really been impressed. It's pricey, but if you're looking for a product to hydrate and brighten the eyes, this is your guy!

My serum and moisturiser combo is all about hydration (surprise) so I've been using my Glossier Super Bounce Serum, which is a hyaluronic based product. This stuff is perfect if you want to go in with a heavier product over the top, as it's super lightweight and will sink in quickly. This is also a lovely one for AM use. The Rodial Magic Gel Night Cream has been my go-to night cream as of late. It's a very light formula, and the texture feel super luxe and nourishing on the skin. The packaging is also A+++, the push down dispenser keeps the product fresh, and it's also a lot more hygienic.

I don't know about you, but I've been really inspired this year to have a little bit of a clear-out. I think lockdown had everyone clearing out their closets, decluttering their homes, and seeing what we can actually live without. Now, I don't want to to willy-nilly throw away parts of my beauty collection, however there are most definitely products that are reaching the end of their life-spans, and I'd love to see them used up before the end of this year! I'll have to report back in January to see if I was successful or not, but I think it's a fun little beauty project to focus on...and here are the products I'm going to aim to finish up!

Smashbox Water BB Cream

I absolutely love this foundation, well BB cream, and I feel like it's one of those products I use so frequently that I'm surprised it's still going. So you might be asking 'why do you want to get rid of it if you love it so much?' and I just want to try some other tinted bases that are out there. The Dior Face and Body has been screaming my name, as well as some of the Ilia bases, and I'd love to use this up first before purchasing something new.

Alya Face Mask

This is another product that I love, but I feel like it may be reaching it's expiry now, hence why I'm keen to finish it off. If you want to pick up a more clarifying face mask, but you're worried about making your skin dry or stripped, this is a lovely one. It contains rose, which is very hydrating, yet the clay helps to draw out impurities within the skin.

Gallinee Foaming Cleanser

I really love cleaners, and I tend to always have a few on rotation. This is a great one if you have more oily/problematic skin - I personally don't, so there are days where this is a little too drying for me. I do tend to reach for it after I've worked out and I really want to get rid of all the sweaty build-up, but other than that there are other cleansers I will reach for first. I'm keen to use it up, but be warned if you have dry skin this may not be the one for you.

Benefit Hoola Light

This is such a cult product, not just from Benefit, but in the industry as a whole. I love that they released a couple more shades, and the 'light' really has taken a beating from me. I'm very shocked that I've managed to hit pan on this, I never could with the original Hoola that's for sure. I think because the shade is a little lighter you can be heavier handed with it and it's not going to look streaky or muddy. Again, like the BB Cream, there's more bronzers I have my eye on that I'd love to test out.

Dermalogica Vit C Eye Serum

I've loved using this eye cream, but I do have another Vitamin C contender waiting in the wings that I'm eager to get started on. I'm one of those people who doesn't like to have loads of skincare open at one time, which is why I'm always holding out until I've finished something else. If you don't like heavy eye creams, this is a serum, so it sits beautifully under the eyes especially if you're a makeup wearer.

Benefit Galifornia Blush

Another Benefit product...and I promise you I'm not bashing the brand here, I've just had this sitting in my collection taking up a lot of space frankly...anyone else find these box blushes a little bit of a pain to store? With the being said, I do love the shade, especially for summer. I feel like this year I've already used it loads and I'm excited to continue digging my way through. It's a beautiful coral blush, looks absolutely gorgeous with a tan! Also it smells like peaches, it's bloody lovely.

Project Empty: Let's See What I Can Use Up Before 2021.

Today I wanted to focus on a product that has been in my skincare rotation for a couple of years now. When Glossier first hit the UK I remember being super excited to try out their products, I had a list of items that I wanted to purchase, not knowing I was going to be invited to one of the launch events and receive a very generous goody bag full of product - it really was as dreamy as it sounds. In that bag was their Super Bounce Serum, and I have been in lover ever since.

Like their makeup, their skincare is super minimal and doesn't require much knowledge or expertise to get right. This is one of three serums they have available, and as the name suggests, it's meant to hydrate and plump the skin. At £24 I do think it's very reasonable, and a lot more affordable than some other products you may see floating around the likes of Space NK.

My skin leans on the dry/dehydrated side, so I tend to gravitate towards serums that contain ingredients such as hyaluronic acid - this one does, as well as B5 which softens and soothes the skin. It's excellent under makeup as it doesn't leave a sticky residue and sinks in very quickly. I've also been using this at night - I find my skin just drinks it up and it looks so much more healthy and radiant by morning.

This does pair really nicely with the other products in their skincare range - this in combination with their Priming Moisturiser Riche was my go to morning duo for a while! Oh and Lola loves it too....

Glossier Super Bounce Serum.

How have we all been? I feel like I've finally got myself into a routine that doesn't make every day feel like a drag. I'm not currently working, like so many others, and thought I would channel this new found time into picking up an old hobby - blogging. If you follow me on Instagram (@bymilliee) you'll know I haven't abandoned the beauty industry completely, but I have found it difficult to get back into the swing of things when it comes to my blog. To ease myself back in, I wanted to share some of the products I've been reaching for over the last couple months. My beauty routine has been super low-key and minimal, and I haven't really been wearing much makeup, at least not every day.

A lovely base if you don't want to wear a full-coverage foundation, but you do want a more even complexion. As far as tinted moisturisers go, I adore this one, and the SPF is an added bonus. It leaves a lovely, radiant finish, and I don't find it leans too much on the oily side throughout the day. Being a tinted moisturiser, you do get some added skincare benefits, such as hydration, but I would still always recommend applying on clean, moisturised skin. This was the first non-powder product I tried from Bare Minerals and I definitely want to delve deeper into their liquid foundation range.

This is almost the concealer version of the BM complexion rescue - a tinted lightweight product, packed full of skincare benefits as well as pigment. I really am starting to see a trend here...I can't stand my under eyes feeling dry and tight throughout the day, so I always prefer to reach for something more hydrating. If I was wearing this out and about I would set with a powder to prevent creasing, but I don't really find that super necessary when I'm not leaving the house.

I have been trying to maintain the glow in my skin and these drops have been giving me that "you've been out in the sun" look. You don't have to faff about with a body tanner and a mitt, you just simply add a few drops to your moisturiser and you're good to go - it really is that simple. I love how radiant and glowing these drops make my skin look, another reason why I'm totally OK with going makeup-free, or opting for a very light coverage base. It doesn't smell too funky, and I haven't found it leaves any orange patches.

This is one of my all time favourite skincare products, and thankfully this seems to be lasting me ages. It's like a drink of water for the skin, leaving it a lot more luminous and smooth. I tend to use this after my toner, and before I go-in with any serums to help add another layer of hydration. An essence was certainly a product that I didn't know I needed in my routine, but I can't see myself being without this one now. The anti-pollution benefits are also great, although not really needing those too much now I'm not on and off the tubes!

Another Fresh product I'm in love with - their balms really are worth every penny. The caramel is also a firm favourite, but I currently using this coconut scent and it's heavenly. I seem to be applying lip balm every chance I get, I've never had so many on the go at once. I always go back to this one as it feels super hydrating and nourishing on the lips. It also doesn't sink it straight away so your lips feel hydrated for longer.

Lockdown loving; my current go-to products.

It does seem a little strange recommending an SPF given the current pandemic we are all experiencing...I do want to keep doing what I love though and keep my beauty talk up as I know (at least for me) it's a nice escape. In addition, here in the UK, we are able to go outside and exercise once a day, and I really really urge you to do so if you can, ensuring to keep your distance! It's super important for the mind, and to stretch your legs if you're sat down all day. This means that SPF is still 100% necessary and should be sitting on your beauty counter ready for those moments.

Dermalogica is a brand I really love and trust when it comes to skincare. They have some amazing products that my skin adores. SPF is a hard nut to crack, some are too thick, too greasy, don't have a high enough factor, the list goes on. Last summer I was all about the Dermalogica Broad Spectrum which is still a firm favorite, so I was really excited to give their new Invisible Physical Defence (very kindly gifted) a go.

Being a physical sunscreen means it will will block out the sun naturally, without bringing harsh chemicals into the mix. It feels super lightweight and is the perfect final step to any skincare routine, setting you up for your daily dose of fresh air! It's a very lightweight formula, and sinks in well to the skin. I haven't been wearing much makeup, I'll be honest, so I can't comment on how well it sits underneath a full face, however feels lovely with the minimal concealer and cheek products I have been using.

I wouldn't go any lower than an SPF of 30, especially for the face, so this is perfect for me. It also offers broad spectrum protection which is something everyone needs to look out for when purchasing an SPF. This essentially means that your skin will be protected from both UVA and UVB rays.

Dermalogica Invisible Physical Defence Review.

I'm always excited when a new brand enters my collection. These days, there are new brands popping up left right and centre, and now more than ever we need to be enjoying the little things - for me, that's beauty. Gallinee was one of those brands I kept spotting on Instagram, and so when they reached out (full transparency, these are gifted!) I was super excited to give them a try! Like any skincare brand, they are all about the ingredients, so let's dive in a little deeper shall we...

Gallinee focus on skin and haircare products that help support your skin's protective layer - your microbiome. Their products contain prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics to nourish and support the good bacteria, and are suitable for sensitive skin too. Sounds pretty sciencey, but I hope I haven't lost you!

They don't have a huge range on their website, but I like that as I know products aren't just being churned out for the sake of it. The packaging (as you can see) is super super cute, and the two products I have here to share are worth every penny.

GALLINEE FOAMING FACIAL CLEANSER //

We'll kick things off with a cleanser, a staple in everybody's skincare routine. Don't let the word "foaming" turn you away from this one, I know that can be a dividing word in the skincare industry. I don't class this as your typical "foaming" product in that it doesn't dry out my skin, or make it feel striped and squeaky squeaky clean. The base of this still manages to be very creamy, not at all soapy, and it feels very gentle. I pretty much use all of my cleansers with my Foreo Luna (a handy device I will forever recommend) and I adore the results. If smell if something you take into account when purchasing skincare, this has a very very subtle citrusy scent, so a perfect for those AM cleanses. This retails for £15, so not too pricey!

GALLINEE SOOTHING CLEANSING CREAM //

This was a funny one for me to get used to, as it's a hair shampoo that doesn't lather up! Sounds strange as I think everyone is used to that foaming sensation we get from traditional hair shampoos -but not with this one! Because of that, I found that I first applied way too much (user error!) and it made my hair a little more oily than usual. Second time around I was a more conservative with it, and I loved how gentle it was. It's super creamy and nourishing, and the ingredients are meant to work in a way that means you don't have to wash your hair as often - I'll be sure to feed back on that! If you have a sensitive scalp, this should be on your hair shampoo radar.

Two Picks From Gallinee.

Let's take a peek into my bathroom shall we...I don't know about you, but I'm such a product hoarder, especially in the bathroom - sorry to my boyfriend who has about 2cm worth of counter space! I can't be the only one who has the odd body wash and lotion from various Christmas and birthday gift sets, but today I want to dive into the beauty products I use again and again, and that have a permanent place on my bathroom shelves.

FRESH SOY CLEANSER //
This has to be one of my top three cleansers for sure. It's so simple, yet effective, and doesn't strip the skin. The smells is super fresh and my skin is always left feeling so clean, nourished, and not at all dry. Some few key ingredients to note; soy protein, cucumber extract and rosewater, so even if you have more sensitive skin I think you'll like this. I'm definitely overdue a trip to the Fresh store in Covent Garden to pick up a new one!

& OTHER STORIES PERLE DE COCO BODY LOTION //
My oh my do I adore the smell of this. Slightly out of season maybe, but I've never (and I mean never) had so many compliments on a scent in all my 23 years of living. This is a sweet, very sweet, scent, packed full of coconut, caramel and vanilla. It also feels amazing on the skin, which I suppose is the important part, not to mention to scent lingers on the skin all day long - winner for those who like to smell like a fresh batch of cookies! This is the only body moisturiser I will spend over £10 for...worth every penny.

FARRYN AMBER LUNA EVENING FACIAL OIL //
This has been my go-to night oil for a while now. It's incredibly luxurious on the skin, and feels ultra nourishing and hydrating. You can pick this up from a few places in the UK, Selfridges being one, so it's fairly new to the scene and I haven't really heard anybody talking about it. I adore the way this makes the skin look and feel, especially if I'm experiencing any dry / dull patches, aided by lavender and primrose oils that help to tone and soothe. Certainly one to keep in mind if you're in the market for a new oil.

DR LIPP ORIGINAL NIPPLE BALM //
Despite being called a nipple balm, this has to be my favourite lip balm. It's super super thick and I slather this stuff on in the winter months. I'm also prone to some very very dry and flakey patches around my mouth and chin when it gets bitterly cold, and this is the only product I've found to dramatically reduce that. For that, this little gem will always be in my life.

SAM MCKNIGHT COOL GIRL TEXTURE SPRAY //
Whenever I style my hair this is always the first product I reach for. I don't curl my hair all that often, but when I do, this helps to create those textured lived in waves we all see on Pinterest and try desperately try to recreate. Touching on smell again, this one gives off sexy man vibes incase anyone is into that. It's no surprise that hair stylist to the stars knows how to make a good styling product, so definitely give his brand a go if you haven't already.

KRISTIN ESS LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER //
Something slightly newer to my routine, but I've been super impressed with how soft and silky this makes my hair post-wash. As my hair gets longer, it gets knottier, so I'm always after products which help to keep everything sleek and knot-free. This is also a pretty inexpensive brand compared to the likes of Living Proof and Ouai, so I love that it's more accessible and I don't feel as bad when I use 20 spitz at a time. With that being said, maybe don't go overboard with this one as it may leave your hair a little greasier than you hoped...

DERMALOGICA DAILY MICROFOLIANT //
This is a real all-over exfoliator for me. I love it for my face when I want a gentle scrub (I use the word scrub in the loosest sense as you should never really "scrub" your skin!) and to remove any dead skin cells that may have built up during these colder climates. My legs however is where this gets the most use...I adore this for exfoliating my body before I go in with my epilator or tan. I find it super customisable as you mix it with water, or in this case a body wash, so you can really go as intense as you like. I do epilate my legs, so a good exfoliator is key to prevent ingrown hairs!

FRESH UMBRIAN CLAY PURIFYING MASK //
Another Fresh product, this time in the form of a face mask, and they do some of my faves. Their Unbrian Clay Mask is fabulous if you need a deep cleanse and something that is really going to clear those pores. I leave this on for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Top tip -  I always apply my masks with a flat foundation paddle brush, it's so much easer and it doesn't get all up in your finger nails.

Bathroom Beauty.

Skincare will always be a love affair of mine. I adore researching the best new ingredients, and the brands that are really delivering with their newest releases. Coming into 2020 I did want to strip back my skincare routine some-what. I'm not talking about cleanse, tone, moisturise - your girl needs a little more attention than that - but taking the less is more approach. With that said, here's some products I loved towards the end of 2019, and that I won't be switching out anytime soon!

It's no secret that I love Fresh as a brand. My skin totally adores their products, and I always love their new releases. A facial essence was definitely something I was keen to get on board with, and I'm super happy with this one. Essentially, it's another super thin layer of moisture that you apply post-cleanse. I didn't know how much I would love this, but it really makes my skin feel so much more nourished and hydrated. I'll use this AM and PM for optimum results. It also helps to battle the effects of pollution on the skin, which is a huge plus as a London dweller.

This has been in my routine for years now and I continue to repurchase it time and time again. Kiehl's certainly know a thing or two about oils. I was obsessed with their Midnight Recovery oil for years, so when they released their day-time version I was super excited to give it a go. This makes my skin so so radiant and hydrated, it's perfect for these dull winter days. I take a few drops and will mix it in with my moisturiser. You can use this alone of course, but I love to play mixologist and add this to my favourite daytime moisturiser for that ultimate supple glow.

This is a new brand to me, and they kindly reached out and gifted me a selection of their products. For the price point, I was bloody impressed with the bits I got to try. In that mix was their Daily Brightening Serum that contains Hyularonic Acid, an ingredient known for it's hydrating properties. I suffer with dry / dehydrated skin, so this is right up my street, and is a serum I would highly recommend if you sit in that same boat.  It sinks in very well, making it the perfect AM serum to use before your makeup, and my skin feels 100% more moisturised after. Definitely don't forget the power of a Hyularonic serum!

Keeping with the Good Molecules theme, the other product I was able to try was their Priming Moisturiser. I don't use this in replace of my standard AM moisturiser (which we'll come to in a second) but I do find it creates an extra layer of hydration before I apply my foundation. It has a handy pump, and I love how lightweight this feels on the skin. It's not sticky, or too greasy, it's a very easy-to-use formula and feels lovely on the skin.  It's also Silicone-free, so it doesn't have that slippy texture. In the summer, I may use this as my normal moisturiser, but for now in the Winter I love the added boost this gives me.

I will always have a selection of masks floating around in my bathroom. I love the process of masking, I find it really relaxing and like I'm taking time out for myself. This isn't something I do everyday, but a few times a week I do like to soak up those added benefits they provide. Lately, I've been gravitating towards the Evolve Organic Beauty Radiance Glow Mask which is as lovely as it sounds. It smells like chocolate so already we're off to a great start, and it leaves my skin so so soft and radiant. It contains Cocoa powder and clay which help to exfoliate a detoxify the skin, whilst the organic oils help to maintain moisture and really give you that youthful glow. At £24 I think this is definitely worth picking up!

I really have a thing for Hyularonic Acid don't I? This is another one that is packed full of hydration and moisture,  more pricey that some other bits mentioned here, but I can't fault the formula on these dry days. The packaging I love, the blue jar I think is super summery and looks lovely on my bathroom counter - not essential, but it's the little things. This is a very light-weight gel/cream which leaves my skin plump and hydrated all day long. I have also been known to reach for this in the evenings as I love it that much. I'm coming to the end of this now, but I'm determined to use every last drop.

This is a new release from Dermalogica and I was super lucky to receive this on the day it launched. I'm not fussy when it comes to eye creams - I don't want something too heavy and claggy, but being in my early 20s I'm more trying to prevent and hydrate. Eye serums are a great first step if you're young and just wanted to dabble in the orbital skincare game. This one in particular is so lightweight, it sinks in effortlessly and the Vitamin C helps to brighten those tired eyes. This is a fantastic daily eye serum to use if you don't want anything too thick.

Skincare I've Added Into My 2020 Routine.

A good hydrating face mask can go a long way in the winter months. My skin seems to take on a snake-like mentality, shedding every other day, feeling very dry and scaly. Sexy I know, but who can relate? As well as keeping on top of my daily skincare routine, I love to incorporate a few masks to amp up my regime a couple of times a week to help with how nourished and hydrated my skin feels. These are all masks made to boost radiance and hydration, something my skin is in dyer need of at the moment.

 Fresh Rose Hydrating Mask

This is one I have been raving about for years now, it's by far my top pick of the three I'm going to mention today. Fresh do some amazing skincare products, and their masks (though quite expensive) are something I can always rely on when my skin is playing up. Their Rose Hydrating Mask really does encompass everything I want a hydrating mask to be. Containing rose, cucumber extract and aloe vera, this not only tones and nourishes the skin but it helps to soothe as well - an essential benefit for me if my skin is feeling red and irritated.

Evolve Organic Beauty Radiance Glow Mask

This is fairly new to my mask collection, but upon the first few uses I really have fallen in love. This offers a slight exfoliation which my skin laps up in the winter months. Not the most appealing in the jar, but I really love how this mask makes my skin feel. I leave it on for about 10 minutes and rinse with warm water - my skin honestly feels so so soft and nourished. I can't recommend this enough for a quick hit of radiance.

 Cuticura Dry Cream Skin

Not what you typically think of when talking about hydrating masks, but this is such a saviour if your skin is really having a moment of dryness. This is more of a treatment cream, so it is super super thick and very hydrating, definitely not a cream you'd want to apply before makeup! The way I've been using this is as a light layer all over skin and leaving it overnight to work it's magic. An overnight mask if you will. I reserve this for those days when I have patches of very dry and irritated skin and it works wonders. This is also very affordable, so I would highly recommended adding this to your skincare stash in case of a dry skin emergency!

Come winter, comes dry skin - that seems to be the motto I live by this time of year, not by choice of course. I am definitely one of those people who will consciously add more moisturising products into their routine in the colder months, and for me that all starts with a cracking night treatment.

Image result for dermalogica sleep cocoonDermalogica have a few stand-out products in their range for dry/dull skin, and in today's post I'm going to be focusing on their Sound Sleep Cocoon. If you do want to hear my thoughts on some of their other products do let me know!

This is an overnight treatment, much like the Origins Drink Up Intense Mask but with a bit more going on and a slightly lighter formula. Their Sleep Cocoon has been specifically formulated to hydrate and brighten the skin whilst you sleep - getting your beauty sleep has never rung so true. It doesn't feel like your traditional moisturiser, it almost has that silicone slip to it, but it feels gorgeous on the skin.

With Tamarind Seed, Lavender Oil and Silk Tree Extract packed in, this really is a lovely nighttime treatment. The hints of lavender help to relax me as well, making it even easier to get to sleep, big plus! If you're sensitive to essential oils that maybe something to bare in mind, however I don't find them too overpowering personally. My skin the next day feels so so soft, and I can certainly see it appears brighter and more hydrated. I do tend to pair this on top of my Farryn Amber Lunar Night Oil which is amazing too for dry skin!

Now this is quite pricey, at £72 this isn't going to be something you pick up on a whim, however if that is within your budget and you're after a product to truly transform your skin overnight I think it's money well spent.

Fresh is a brand that I have been using for years now, and I continue to find new products I love from their range. They have a wonderful selection to suit any skin concern - I've even got my mum hooked!! I have my stand-out products which I use all the time, such as the Soy Cleanser and Rose Hydrating Mask, however I wanted to touch a few products I have been using lately which maybe I don't talk about all that much.

To give this post a little bit of context, my skin is dry/combo. I get an oily t-zone from time to time, but on the whole my skin tends to lean on the dry and dehydrated end of the scale. For that, I love to use products which offer a tonne of hydration, as well as brightening properties.

Let's try to go in order of application, so I guess we'll start with the mask...

I definitely don't use this everyday, however since living and working in London, my skin certainly needs a helping hand when it comes to easing congestion. Their Umbrian Clay Mask is your classic clay consistency that dries down and sucks out any dirt from your pores. I will apply this 1-2 times a week, mainly when I can see my skin really needs it, and it's a lovely way to detox the skin at the end of the day. You get quite a lot of product in here, I've had this tub for a while now and I still have plenty left. Their masks are more on the pricey side, I believe this retails for around £50, but I can't recommend them enough. This also contains camomile which is great for soothing the skin and avoiding that tight/stripped feeling you can sometimes get when using clarifying products.

Onto the more day-to-day products, the first being the Rose Hydrating Toner Mist - I can't start my day without this! I adore toners in the morning, especially ones you can simply mist onto the skin to perk-up and refresh the face. This is really soothing on the skin as well, and gives an instant dose of hydration - the rose scent isn't too overpowering which I appreciate.

Essences are a product I never really knew I needed in my skincare routine, but I'm hooked! They were used in traditional Korean skincare, and I feel like the SKII essence popularised them in the Western world, making other brands follow suit. The Fresh Black Tea Kombucha Treatment Essence is what I have been currently using and I love love love it. This has anti-pollution properties which I'm all about right now (thanks to the Kombucha) and the extracts of mandarin help to even out the skin's complexion. There's a lot of great benefits packed into this product which is why I've been reaching for it both day and night. I like to apply my essences after I've cleansed, but before any serums. They almost act as a hydration sponge for any moisturisers/oils you may apply after. Big win for me.

Have you tried Fresh? If so, what do you love from their range?

Current Favourites from Fresh.

This winter my skin has been the worst it ever been. My chin/nose area has been so dry and red and irritated, I’m finding it impossible to keep on top of a decent routine.  With that being said, I’ve completely stripped my skincare back to basics and am trying not to overwhelm it.

When I received the new Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance* it sounded exactly what my skin needed! I was hesitant to try it as I didn’t want to introduce anything new into my routine which may have a negative effect. I did however give it a go, and it’s really wowed me!

I been using this as my PM moisturiser - don’t worry, it’s not as thick as it may sound, it’s actually just like my other creamy products I like to use, so I’m more than happy to use it everyday despite its intense name! If you have dry skin like me, I don’t think you’ll find this to be too heavy to use everyday, especially in the winter months. Before I apply this, I go in with a cleanser, toner, facial essence, and then a tiny bit of oil. This locks everything in place and seals that moisture deal!
Now, the price is fairly up there for a moisturiser. At £68 it’s not affordable, however if you’ve been struggling with dry skin over the cold months I think you’ll be really impressed with this.

A few more things to note...it has Vitamin C which is amazing for brightening the skin and improving your skins texture and tone. I love Vitamin C, it’s such a hero ingredient in my opinion. It’s also in a handy squeezy tube which is completely opaque to protect the product from being effected by sunlight (yes, that is a thing!).

Overall, I’m so happy this landed in my life. It’s the perfect product to save dry, irritated skin, and the balancing properties are what my skin craves this time of year.

Let me know if you’ve tried this, or what other products you can’t live without in the winter months.
