Hair

Welcome to my Eras tour, next stop: haircare.

It's no secret the world seems to be going haircare crazy, I blame Gisou and their beautifully aesthetic honey infused hair oil, and I too seem to be jumping on the bandwagon. My hair is very straight, limp and lifeless, so I look for products to add body and volume, and strengthen bonds. Living Proof has a great article on what hair bonds are and how to treat them - I definitely recommend giving it a read if you are on a bit of a haircare journey yourself.

My haircare routine used to consist of shampoo and conditioner, and occasionally some heat protectant and hairspray if I was ever styling it. Now there seems to a grocery list of products that I want to add into my pre and post wash routines...so let's break it down.

Pre-wash:

There are only a couple of things I will do before shampooing my hair, and I tend to do these about once a week. The first is a bonding treatment of some kind, Olapex No.3 is the one I'm currently using. My hairline seems to be disappearing at the blink of an eye so I'm desperately trying to add as much nourishment to my hair cuticles to give them a bit of a boost. Olaplex is a great product to apply before shampooing (I typically leave it for 10-20 minutes and apply to slightly damp hair) and I will use this from root to tip, mainly focussing around my hairline where I seem to have the most amount of breakage. This is one of those products that needs consistent use before seeing any groundbreaking results, so I will keep you posted.

The second product I will use before I go and rinse all my worries away would be a scalp treatment of some kind. Scalp exfoliating products are very popular, as well as a handy dandy scalp brush which I am desperate to pick up - they look amazing! The Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal Exfoliating Scalp Shampoo is one I frequently use and is great to incorporate into your routine once a week. This can double up as a shampoo as well, so you can go straight to conditioner after rinsing it away. A great two in one!

In-shower:

My shower routine is very simple and I do often just stick to a simple shampoo and conditioner combo, with the occasional mask if I'm feeling fancy. Some of my top brands for shampoo and conditioner include L'Oreal Elvive, Briogeo and Living Proof - they just seem to work really well for my hair. I'm using the L'Oreal Elvive Dream Lengths range at the moment which is good for long and damaged hair, and it's one I find myself repurchasing quite a lot (especially as it's mostly on offer!).

Post-wash:

This is where things can get a bit chaotic and all the products and haircare tools come out to play. I must say I'm a fan of just leaving my hair to air-dry if I can and I love to use the JVN Air Dry Cream to tame any frizz and add some extra hydration. When I'm blow drying I'll make sure to use a leave-in product that has some heat protecting benefits to keep my hair from completely frying off. I really like the Aveda Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair as it is very lightweight so doesn't weigh the hair down, but does a great job at detangling.

My Philip Kingsley Root Boost spray is a product I apply without fail if I'm air drying or blow drying my hair - any type of volume product is a must for me to add some body and life back to my roots.

Im terms of a hair-dryer recommendation I use my Shark IQ Hair Dryer which I've had a few months now and really enjoy. I also have my DryBar Blow Dryer Brush if I want a sleek blow out. I'm still perfecting my blow out technique, but I'll get there one day, maybe...

Styling:

I don't have too many styling products up my sleeve, I like a good texture spray and hairspray if I'm curling my hair and that is about it. I'm a big fan of the Living Proof Texture Spray to give my hair some grit and texture after I've curled it. I find it gives you more piecey, lived in curls. I would love to pick up a good hair oil as well to help add some extra shine and tame any frizz, but I'm still mulling that purchase over.

Morning lovlies! I hope you're having a great week. I have a few products that I can't seem to put down at the moment - a couple are bits I've had in my collection for ages now, and others are slightly newer. I love to discover new products, but there's also nothing better than diving into your existing collection and finding some gems. I have a mix here...one skincare product, a hair product, and a couple of complexion bits. Do let me know what you're loving down below as I am always up for incorporating something new into my beauty routine.

Bare Minerals Original Foundation // So this is a new one for me, and my first attempt at using a mineral foundation. I have to say I'm really really loving it. I have dry skin, so admittedly I was hesitant to give this a go, but I took the plunge and I have been reaching for it loads. The rumours are true - this doesn't look dry! Crazy for a powder, but it manages to look luminous and natural on the skin. The lasting power is great, and the coverage is very customisable. The more you buff and work the product into the skin, the more coverage you will get. I'm not a huge fan of full coverage bases, so I don't go too crazy with this, but the little product I do use evens out my skin nicely and never looks cakey.

O&M Know Knott Leave-in-Conditioner // Ok, so when we moved out of London back in April this, along with a few other beauty products, were in a box that I had totally forgotten about. Fast forward 5 months and we have been reunited. I can't express how soft this leaves my hair, I adore it. My hair is quite long, therefore it is prone to getting pretty tangly - not when I use this however!! I love this brand, I've also tried one of their hair masks which is the nicest smelling hair product on planet earth - highly recommend checking them out. This is one I'll use on damp hair post-wash, it's very easy to spritz in and brush through. So after doing some digging, I've discovered it's no longer available!!!! Cry!!! The Kristin Ess Leave in Conditioner is a great alternative.

Glossier Super Bounce Serum // This is my second bottle of this serum, and I love it for morning and pm use. Hyaluronic serums are one of the skincare products I could never be without, and I will always have in my routine. I love how lightweight this is, yet it contains so much hydration that my skin loves. I also do love the packaging, Glossier's branding overall is very cute and appealing I must admit. I wrote a full review on this which I'll link here if you want to read more.

Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter // I've been back on my Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter hype! Is it a primer, is it a highlighter, no one really knows, but it's lovely. My favourite way to wear this is mixed in with another base product. The glow it gives is insane, something Charlotte does extremely well I'm sure you will agree. This manages to add a crazy amount of glow and radiance, yet it doesn't look chunky or too shimmery on the skin. It sinks in so beautifully leaving a lit-from-within sheen.

A Few Beauty Favourites: Some Old, Some New.

I'm always excited when a new brand enters my collection. These days, there are new brands popping up left right and centre, and now more than ever we need to be enjoying the little things - for me, that's beauty. Gallinee was one of those brands I kept spotting on Instagram, and so when they reached out (full transparency, these are gifted!) I was super excited to give them a try! Like any skincare brand, they are all about the ingredients, so let's dive in a little deeper shall we...

Gallinee focus on skin and haircare products that help support your skin's protective layer - your microbiome. Their products contain prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics to nourish and support the good bacteria, and are suitable for sensitive skin too. Sounds pretty sciencey, but I hope I haven't lost you!

They don't have a huge range on their website, but I like that as I know products aren't just being churned out for the sake of it. The packaging (as you can see) is super super cute, and the two products I have here to share are worth every penny.

GALLINEE FOAMING FACIAL CLEANSER //

We'll kick things off with a cleanser, a staple in everybody's skincare routine. Don't let the word "foaming" turn you away from this one, I know that can be a dividing word in the skincare industry. I don't class this as your typical "foaming" product in that it doesn't dry out my skin, or make it feel striped and squeaky squeaky clean. The base of this still manages to be very creamy, not at all soapy, and it feels very gentle. I pretty much use all of my cleansers with my Foreo Luna (a handy device I will forever recommend) and I adore the results. If smell if something you take into account when purchasing skincare, this has a very very subtle citrusy scent, so a perfect for those AM cleanses. This retails for £15, so not too pricey!

GALLINEE SOOTHING CLEANSING CREAM //

This was a funny one for me to get used to, as it's a hair shampoo that doesn't lather up! Sounds strange as I think everyone is used to that foaming sensation we get from traditional hair shampoos -but not with this one! Because of that, I found that I first applied way too much (user error!) and it made my hair a little more oily than usual. Second time around I was a more conservative with it, and I loved how gentle it was. It's super creamy and nourishing, and the ingredients are meant to work in a way that means you don't have to wash your hair as often - I'll be sure to feed back on that! If you have a sensitive scalp, this should be on your hair shampoo radar.

Let's take a peek into my bathroom shall we...I don't know about you, but I'm such a product hoarder, especially in the bathroom - sorry to my boyfriend who has about 2cm worth of counter space! I can't be the only one who has the odd body wash and lotion from various Christmas and birthday gift sets, but today I want to dive into the beauty products I use again and again, and that have a permanent place on my bathroom shelves.

FRESH SOY CLEANSER //
This has to be one of my top three cleansers for sure. It's so simple, yet effective, and doesn't strip the skin. The smells is super fresh and my skin is always left feeling so clean, nourished, and not at all dry. Some few key ingredients to note; soy protein, cucumber extract and rosewater, so even if you have more sensitive skin I think you'll like this. I'm definitely overdue a trip to the Fresh store in Covent Garden to pick up a new one!

& OTHER STORIES PERLE DE COCO BODY LOTION //
My oh my do I adore the smell of this. Slightly out of season maybe, but I've never (and I mean never) had so many compliments on a scent in all my 23 years of living. This is a sweet, very sweet, scent, packed full of coconut, caramel and vanilla. It also feels amazing on the skin, which I suppose is the important part, not to mention to scent lingers on the skin all day long - winner for those who like to smell like a fresh batch of cookies! This is the only body moisturiser I will spend over £10 for...worth every penny.

FARRYN AMBER LUNA EVENING FACIAL OIL //
This has been my go-to night oil for a while now. It's incredibly luxurious on the skin, and feels ultra nourishing and hydrating. You can pick this up from a few places in the UK, Selfridges being one, so it's fairly new to the scene and I haven't really heard anybody talking about it. I adore the way this makes the skin look and feel, especially if I'm experiencing any dry / dull patches, aided by lavender and primrose oils that help to tone and soothe. Certainly one to keep in mind if you're in the market for a new oil.

DR LIPP ORIGINAL NIPPLE BALM //
Despite being called a nipple balm, this has to be my favourite lip balm. It's super super thick and I slather this stuff on in the winter months. I'm also prone to some very very dry and flakey patches around my mouth and chin when it gets bitterly cold, and this is the only product I've found to dramatically reduce that. For that, this little gem will always be in my life.

SAM MCKNIGHT COOL GIRL TEXTURE SPRAY //
Whenever I style my hair this is always the first product I reach for. I don't curl my hair all that often, but when I do, this helps to create those textured lived in waves we all see on Pinterest and try desperately try to recreate. Touching on smell again, this one gives off sexy man vibes incase anyone is into that. It's no surprise that hair stylist to the stars knows how to make a good styling product, so definitely give his brand a go if you haven't already.

KRISTIN ESS LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER //
Something slightly newer to my routine, but I've been super impressed with how soft and silky this makes my hair post-wash. As my hair gets longer, it gets knottier, so I'm always after products which help to keep everything sleek and knot-free. This is also a pretty inexpensive brand compared to the likes of Living Proof and Ouai, so I love that it's more accessible and I don't feel as bad when I use 20 spitz at a time. With that being said, maybe don't go overboard with this one as it may leave your hair a little greasier than you hoped...

DERMALOGICA DAILY MICROFOLIANT //
This is a real all-over exfoliator for me. I love it for my face when I want a gentle scrub (I use the word scrub in the loosest sense as you should never really "scrub" your skin!) and to remove any dead skin cells that may have built up during these colder climates. My legs however is where this gets the most use...I adore this for exfoliating my body before I go in with my epilator or tan. I find it super customisable as you mix it with water, or in this case a body wash, so you can really go as intense as you like. I do epilate my legs, so a good exfoliator is key to prevent ingrown hairs!

FRESH UMBRIAN CLAY PURIFYING MASK //
Another Fresh product, this time in the form of a face mask, and they do some of my faves. Their Unbrian Clay Mask is fabulous if you need a deep cleanse and something that is really going to clear those pores. I leave this on for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Top tip -  I always apply my masks with a flat foundation paddle brush, it's so much easer and it doesn't get all up in your finger nails.

My hair something I'm constantly battling with. It's too dry, it's too fine, it's too flat, blah blah blah, we've heard it all before. With these thoughts in mind, I'm always on the hunt for haircare products which aren't ridiculously expensive, yet super effective. Over the years I have accumulated a few post-shower favourites which I can't live without and would highly recommend.

The first product I use is a leave-in-conditiner. I have two favourites for this category, the first is for all those lazy hair girls out there (me included). The O&M Know Knott is a fab product, in a nifty spray bottle, which leaves your hair soft and detangled. My hair has grown a lot this year which means it's more prone to getting tangled, especially when I'm living in scarves and high neck jumpers. This is my most-used hair product of the year I'd say, and there's still about half the bottle left! Such great value for money.
If you're after something a bit more nourishing, then I'd opt for the Living Proof Instant Repair. This has a really lovely fruity scent, and leaves my hair super nourished and hydrated. Once the temperature drops and my hair becomes a bit more brittle and dry this is what I reach for.

The other product I tend to reach for when my hair is damp, is the Ouai Rose Oil. This can be used on your limbs as well which is why I opt for this rose scent - it's beautiful! For an oil, this is very lightweight and doesn't leave my hair feeling greasy for weighed down. This also works really well after you have styled your hair. One pump will calm down any fly-aways and make your hair look very shiny and healthy.

A few more products I love for styling are texture spays and sea salt sprays. For fine-haired girls like myself, these are essential for adding a bit of volume and body. Dry shampoo is also an amazing styling product, but I haven't included one in todays round up!

A texture spray I've been obsessed with is the Sam McKnight Cool Girl Spray. 1. This smells like a sexy man, and 2. My hair is left with the perfect amount of volume without being crispy. Need I say more? This is definitely worth the price in my opinion, and I want to try more from this brand for sure!

I have a few wave/beach sprays which I have on rotation. They are a super easy way to add effortless beachy waves to your look. I've been really impressed with the Bed Head Tigi Beach Bound Protection Spray. As the name would suggest, it's not really marketed as a traditional beach spray, but it works really well for that too. This is great if you have coloured hair, or live in a hot climate, as it helps to combat the damage of the sun. A good all-rounder, and if you're travelling anytime soon, I think is great to throw in your bag!

So with my summer holiday literally around the corner, I thought it would be the perfect excuse to pick up some new beauty bits. I’ve had my eye on a few of these bits for a while now, and I’m so happy I finally added them to my beauty stash! Safe to say, so far I’m head over heels for everything I purchased – don’t you just love it when that happens?! – and thought I must share the love! So here we go, a few new beauty bits for summer, enjoy!

I haven’t picked a new concealer since I’ve been using the NARS Soft Matte – I just never felt the need as that one was so great. For holiday wear, I do like something a tad sheerer and more lumoious, so I forked out for the Burberry Sheer Concealer. This is one of those pen applicators that you click up and the product disperses through the little brush. I really like these concealers as they tend to be more light-weight under the eyes. With that being said, they can also blend out to practically nothing, this however is the perfect balance between the two. It’s light-enough that it doesn’t feel too heavy under the eyes, but it also offers more coverage than most other concealers of this kind. That’s a huge win in my eyes, aaaand it doesn’t crease - could we really ask for anything more?! Burberry isn’t cheap, but I certainty find you get what you pay for with this.

I picked up a new product from Keihl's, one of my favourite ever brands for skincare. They are dabbling in the primer scene, and I’m here for it! When they released their Glow Moisturiser it looked right up my street, and coming from Kiehl’s I knew it would be packed full of beneficial ingredients. I expected this to be quite a pearly product, but it’s actually the opposite. It has a slight tint to it, so it helps to even out the complexion, as well as brighten. It’s not super super glowy, but it looks lovely under tinted bases, or on it’s own for a minimal makeup look. I don’t think I’ll be reaching for this loads, as I do have primers of this nature that I prefer, but I’m happy I picked it up.

This one I’m really excited about. I saw so many people rave about the Hourglass Cream Cheek Trio last year and it looked right up my street. As you may know I’m a huge fan of cream products, especially when it comes to the cheeks, so when Hourglass released this I was all smiles. The only draw back is the shades (the bronzer more specifically) aren’t super universal. If you have a medium skin tone, I think you’ll be fine, but for darker complexions I don’t think this will do a lot. The bronzer is a medium warm tone, doesn’t contain any shimmer and it’s so easy to blend. I usually grab my Beauty Blender for this and just bop it over my cheeks, temples, and a touch on my forehead. The formula is really creamy, yet stays put! I was really excited about the blush shade in here, it’s the perfect summer pinky peach. Again, it doesn’t contain shimmer, but the creaminess leaves such a gorgeous sheen to the cheeks. A Beauty Blender again will do the trick with this. As for the highlight, I tend to use my fingers for optimum colour pay off. It’s beautiful for every day, leaving the cheekbones with a lit from within glow. The light champagne tone works wonderfully on my complexion and it blends nicely over the other products.

You can never go wrong with a good old Charlotte Tilbury lip pencil, and I was after a new one to add to my stash. I picked up the shade Supersize Me which I believe is a fairly new release. This a shade or two darker than the famous Pillow Talk, so it adds a really nice amount of definition to the lips and is a lovely base for any nude, or pink lippie. These glide on and aren’t drying at all. Definitely worth checking out!

I picked up a mini of the Sachajuan Hair Repair which will be perfect for popping in my travel bag! This is a leave in product which nourishes and hydrates the hair. Even though I picked this up with the intention of travelling with it, I have used it a couple of times just to see how I like it. I’m a big lover of leave in products for my hair, and this one is a great option if you suffer with dry ends. It’s a thick formulation which I apply to the lengths and ends of my hair when it’s damp. It smells lovely and fresh, and once my hairs dry it feels silky smooth. There are a lot of these types of products on the market, but this is more intense than others I’ve tried which is perfect if you put your hair through a lot! I’m excited to continue using this when I go away.

So I've been on a couple of trips over the past month or so, and I have a few more before the year is up. I'm a real 'only travelling with hand luggage' convert as of late, and with that comes the issue of packing my entire beauty routine into a little plastic zip lock bag. Luckily for me, my boyfriend who I normally travel with basically packs a deodorant and aftershave, so I can always shove some in his bag too. Thank god for low maintenance men eh?

Travel minis are adorable, and I'm quite the hoarder. I always keep them from beauty boxes, gifts with purchases etc etc, and I love collating a little bag together when the time comes. Anywho, I feel like this may be a long one so lets get into it!

Skincare: I'm not going to cover everything I use/take with me, but these are just a few bits I feel like would be great for anyones travel beauty stash. I have normal-dry skin which can get a tad oily in the summer, so the following products work great for me.
Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist: This is a gem of a product to have with you when travelling. On the plane, on the way to your hotel, after a long day in the sun, this will literally make your skin feel amazing despite the environmental challenges. The mist is super fine - so it's easy to go overboard - and the scent is a lovely rosy spa kind of smell, very comforting and relaxing. I love how this makes my skin feel after sitting on a plane, it's the hydrating boost it desperately needs. The full size is hella pricey, so I'd definitely recommend picking up this mini regardless of if you're travelling or not.
Clinique All About Eyes: I'm a huge Clinique skincare fan, and since getting their Christmas advent calendar last year, I still have a few minis floating about. This eye cream is fab for hydrating and giving a good base for makeup. I'm not too fussy with eye creams - I mainly look for something lightweight which offers a good dose of hydration. This ticks those boxes so into the travel bag it goes!

Makeup: I always pack way too much makeup when I go away, I just like to have options...I can find base products take up so much room, so I'm thankful to have a few minis I can take instead of the full sizers.
Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow: I love this product for everyday use. It sits wonderfully underneath foundation, and gives the skin a lovely lit from within glow. I can be quite heavy handed with this, but it never looks to disco ball like!
Erborian CC Cream: This is very new to my stash, but I love it for that effortless summer makeup look. It's not a stand out as far as coverage goes, but the feel and finish is lovely and very natural. It comes out the tube as a white cream with little grey beads in, it will then blend in with your skin tone to even and cover the skin. This smells very heavily of suncream which is interesting...buuut it has SPF25 so thats a bonus I suppose.
Benefit Hoola: This is the cutest little bronzer ever. Hoola is such a classic product, it's a beautiful bronzer which adds such a nice amount of warmth to the skin. It's matte, so you can use it as more of contour as well. The mid-tone brown works great for my skin, even when I have a bit of a tan.
It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara: I got this as a free sample when I purchased the CC cream from Selfridges, so it's definitely worth asking for one of you too are making a purchase! I love love love this mascara, it's quickly become one of my all time favourites and I'm 100% going to be picking up the full size. It gives the lashes so much volume, but separates them too and makes them look amazingly defined a fluttery. It's the perfect mascara if you want a bit of everything, and it doesn't smudge! It's not a waterproof formula, so if you are in and out the pool, or at the beach with this on, I would be a bit careful.

Hair: My hair can really take a battering when I'm away. Being exposed to the sun, and in a out of the pool it can leave it quite damaged and lifeless, so there a couple of bits I like to have on hand to combat that.
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo: I'm never without a dry shampoo, my roots can get really oily at times, especially if I'm sweating it out in the heat - nice image there Millie... This is the one I currently have, it's really nice and does the job, but I think I'll just purchase the classic Batiste next time as it's only a couple of quid. I do like the Living Proof Perfect Day Hair range mind, they all smell lovely and fresh and leave my hair feeling healthy and clean.
Ouai Wave Oil: I love this, it's the perfect holiday hair companion. It smells like summer, and this will give you those beachy hair vibes we all crave. I tend to pop this on damp hair and I don't find it drys crispy at all. If you're using it on dry hair, use it sparingly as it can make your hair ever so slightly stiff and it kind of feels like you need to wash it out straight away. A couple of spritz on your lengths and ends will do the trick, and leave your locks beautifully tousled.

Body: I'm all about supple, nourished skin the summer. I hate having dry skin, especially on my arms and legs, so I will always spend some extra time in the evenings making sure everything is as moisturised as can be.
Nuxe Golden Shimmer Dry Body Oil: I really love Nuxe as a brand, they do body products extremely well, and they all smell amazing! This is a lovely body product to use in the evenings before heading out for dinner. If gives a gorgeous glow to the skin, as well as adding a touch more bronze to your limbs. To be honest, I don't really tan very well, I'll go a few shades darker but nothing crazy, so products like this are great for faking it. I will apply this after I've got dressed, but it doesn't transfer or sit on the skin.
L'Occitane Almond Body Concentrate: I have the full size of this too, and it's one of my favourite body moisturisers. It's so super moisturising which is exactly what my skin needs after being the sun all day, it also smells divine as the name would suggest. Their body range is fantastic, and I'd highly recommend picking this up of you haven't tried it already. It sinks in beautiful and leaves you smelling, and feeling, great!

Travel Minis You Need In Your Stash.

I don't have a very fussy beauty routine as of late. Since switching from student mode, to full-time work mode, my mornings are super short, and my evenings are spent being in a constant state of tiredness. This means I don't really have the energy or time to be playing around with loads of different products. There are a few, however, which I'll add in here and there just to keep things interesting.

These aren't necessarily products which I'd say you definitely, 100% need to buy asap, but I love having them in my stash just incase.

The first is definitely a bit of a luxurious extra. Teeth whitening isn't something I've ventured into before, but I've always wanted to give an at-home kit a try. I was lucky enough to be sent over a little set from Nano which included some of their intensive whitening strips.

I was a bit nervous at first, and the 'intensive' part definitely had me hesitant, as I was unsure as to how my teeth would react. They were fine though, no signs of sensitivity which is great!

I love how easy these are to use, and have most certainly made a difference. I've been using them every 4/5 days, which I feel is a good amount to start with.

If you ever wanted to delve into the world of teeth whitening I would say this is a good place to start.

They also have a good toothpaste and mouthwash selection to help your teeth stay pearly white in-between uses!

I only have one makeup product in here, and I've only really included it because of the way I personally like to use it. Contour sticks are great over the top of makeup, but even better underneath in my opinion. This Chubby Contour Stick from Clinique is a gorgeous mid-toned brown shade which adds beautiful definition to the cheeks.

It looks seamless under foundation which is why I love to use it that way. It's not something I do often, as it is a bit of an unnecessary step in the mornings, but I love how it looks. I will normally go in with a powder bronzer also, but this sets off the contour/bronzing steps beautifully.

Next up is a haircare item, which for some may be a daily essential, but I use it when I can be bothered to...Ouai is a great brand for haircare, and their wave spray is fabulous to use after I've ran a quick curl through my hair. I never like my hair to look too perfect, so products like this are great if you need a little texture!

You don't want to go too overboard, as it can get a bit sticky, but used lightly creates lovely beachy waves. I know in the summer I'll be using the hell out of this, but for now it's nice to have for those odd occasions I actually want to do something to my hair!

I never find one can have too much skincare, but I personally have too many of those "use once in a while" products...again, not a bad thing...right? Toning is a step I try to do everyday, but it can be too much for the skin and start to dry it out. If you find your skin leans slightly on the dryer side, then why not try a hydrating toner? It will give you all the same benefits of your standard product, the tightening, the clarifying etc etc, but whilst adding a dose of hydration.

I've been using the By Terry Hydra Toner which was a pricey item, but it's lasted very well and I know is doing wonders for my skin. This is enriched with rose, which has so many great nourishing properties. In the winter, this has been great in include in my routine.

The other product I love is a multi-purpose balm. Again, some may class this as an everyday essential, but I just like to use them when I need to. I've been loving the Dr Lipp nipple balm, don't let the name foul you! You can apply this on your lips, cuticles, elbows, and any dry patches you may have.

I had some really bad dry patches on my chin...like, really bad...and nothing would clear them. One night I piled some of this on, and I'm not kidding, by the morning they were about 80% less dry!! I was amazed.

If you suffer with dry patches, try this out!

Five Products To Enhance Your Beauty Routine.

I've always been a leave-in-conditioner kind of gal. My hair is long, and it's super prone to the odd knot or two, so a leave-in products never go a miss. I tend to look out for formulas which claim to soften the hair, and prevent tangles, which is exactly what my current fave does. And it does it well, super well.

O&M is a new brand on my radar. This is the first product I've tried from them, and I'm so impressed. First off, the packaging is super minimal and chic, the same as the rest of their line - at least, what I've seen.

If you're in the UK you can pick O&M up from Look Fantastic and Space NK, just to name a couple. I'm desperate to try out more from them, so please leave your recommendations down below!

Let's get into the product in question...

O&M Know Knott is the first product I apply to my hair once it's been freshly washed.

The formula is very lightweight, it doesn't weigh your hair down, or make it feel sticky. It's also lasted me so so so long, and I still have about three quarters of the bottle left...
I'm really not sure how that's happened as I'm anything but sparing with this stuff.

I've also used this when I have had slightly shorter hair - we're talking just under the collarbone - and it works just as well, and feels just as amazing.

The main benefit to this is the detangling aspect, and it does it really well.

In the colder months I live in scarfs, which means my hair gets so tangled underneath it can be a nightmare to brush out. This has made that process 10 times easier!

I also feel like my hair falls so much nicer once it's dried. I don't tend to blow-dry my hair often, so I love to find products that genuinely make it look nice, and not like it's not been brushed in 50 years.

It doesn't have much of a scent, it's quite light and fresh, so very non-offensive.

The spritz is nice as well. It desperses a nice amount of product, but at the same time doesn't feel like half of it disappears into thin air.

No complaints from me! I truly love this stuff, and for £21, it's worth it, especially because of how long it lasts!! Let me know if you've tried this, and what you think, or of any other products from their line you really love and can't live without.

O&M Know Knott.

I can't believe summer is basically over! Booo! It's been raining non-stop here in the UK so I feel like we can officially wave goodbye to the sun. I do love Autumnal makeup, but as August has only just finished I don't want to break out all my matte shadows and vampy lips just yet, so I've been reaching for a few products to bridge that gap.

Davines Volu Shampoo: Now, I've never been one to spend a lot on haircare, but lately I have wanted to invest a little bit more into my locks. This is a great shampoo to maintain voluminous roots, something I definitely struggle with. If you have very dry roots, I wouldn't suggest this as it does have that sea salt vibe to it which may dry your hair out. I have oily roots, so that really doesn't bother me at all. The smell is super fresh and overall I've been really happy with this. It definitely gives you that beachy, lived in vibe.

Charlotte Tilbury Overnight Bronze and Glow Mask: This is the first skincare product I've tried from Charlotte Tilbury and I really adore it. It is fairly fragranced, so I was worried it was going to break me out, but so far so good! You pop this on before bed, and wake up with lovely glowing skin. The bronzing element is very subtle in my opinion, it's definitely a gradual process, but it does make your skin look very healthy. I've been using this every 2-3 days to maintain that lovely glow we all crave. If you did pick up a tan over the summer, this would be a lovely product to help keep that going throughout Autumn.

Clinique Chubby Stick Contour: I really do love this, it's not as cool toned as I think some people may like, but it works well for me. I use this underneath my base to create a natural, bronzed contour  to the skin. It's so easy to apply, and blends really well with a beauty blender. If you're after that effortless, bronzed look to the skin, this is a great product to have in your collection. It does also work well on top of foundation, but I find it's so much more natural underneath.

Nars God Created the Women Eye Palette*: This is such a great transitional palette, the shades in here are gorgeous. Unfortunately it is no longer available, however Nars are always coming out with similar eye palettes, so be sure to head to your nearest counter and see what they have. This palette has amazing lighter shades, perfect for all over the lid, and some gorgeous deep browns which are great in the Autumn time to create a more vamped up look. The shades blend beautifully and the pigment is awesome. There's a nice mix of mattes and shimmer shades, so loads of options to create some beautiful eye looks.

MAC Twig: Twig is a shade I purchased this time last year, and one I'm so excited to start wearing again. It's a lovely brown-toned, pink shade, but it's on the darker side which is why I save it for Autumn. I would say it's still a nude - kind of - but more on the bolder side of nudes, if you know what I mean! The formula is amazing, it's a satin finish so it's very comfortable to wear. I love MAC lipsticks and there's always at least one I'm reaching for at any given time.

I love waking up on bank holiday Monday knowing that I can spend the day chilling with friends and family, and of course spending a little longer on my makeup. Can't every week consist of a three-day weekend? I knew that I wanted to do some kind of bank holiday makeup related post, so I thought I would simply share with you the makeup I've been wearing across the weekend. Like most, mine has been filled with lots and food and spending time at BBQs with the fam, so it's quite a relaxed look, but one I've been loving.

Becca Backlight Priming Filter: I always start any look with a primer, and a glow giving one was on the menu today. I love how this makes my skin look, so healthy and dewy, without adding too much of a harsh golden shimmer. It's a great primer for when my skin is looking a bit dull, it naturally perks it up.

Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation: I haven't worn this foundation in so so long, but it's such a great one. The coverage is medium, but can be sheered out with a beauty blender, or built up - it's quite versatile I must say. The finish is very natural too, slightly on the satin/matte side, but with the primer underneath my skin still remains fairly dewy, just how I like it.

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow: I can't go a makeup look without a bit of bronzer and highlight, they're such essentials for me. This duo form CT is stunning, and I'm sure you've seen it many times. The bronzer is a lovely medium brown shade which warms up the face beautifully. The highlight is the best part for me though, it's a gorgeous champagne gold shade which looks amazing on the face, it has a blurring effect which I adore.

Nars Lovejoy Blush: Blush is another staple for me, I love them for adding a subtle boost of colour to the face. This Nars one is a lovely deep copper mauve shade, it's such a beautiful everyday shade as it seems to go with every look. Although in the pan it looks very dark, it's not that scary on the face if you use a light hand, it leaves a lovely warm flush to the cheeks.

Chanel Longwear Cream Shadow in Undertone: Why is it that I always gravitate to the most neutral shades EVER! This is a stunning shadow though, I love the way it looks as a one-wash-wonder all over the lids. It looks lighter on the lids than it does in the pan, it's a gorgeous taupe-y bronze shade, a perfect mix of the two. It lasts really well on the eyes and I just adore everything about this Chanel beauty.

Clarins Instant Light Perfecter Balm in Rose: I wanted a very fuss-free lip for this bank holiday as I know I will be consuming all the food. These balms from Clarins are great at keeping your lips hydrated, but also adding a slight tint of colour which can be easily reapplied throughout the day. This shade is the lightest of the bunch, and it's almost undetectable on the lips, but still adds a slight hint of pink.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish in Mauve-olous: I don't really mention nail polishes on my blog as to be honest, I normally get a gel-manicure, as oppose to doing it myself at home. I wanted to save my pennies and see if I could fall in love with nail polish again, and this is a game-changer. This is the best nail polish from the drugstore ever invented!! I've had it on for 5 days already and I have next to no chips, it's a bloody miracle. This colour is also beautiful, a lovely dusky pinky mauve shade with a bit of peach in their too. I'm definitely going to pick up more shades and do a whole post on these, so stay tuned!

Ouai Wave Spray: I tend to curl my hair on the weekends and I have a bit more time to spend getting ready. Post curl, I love to add in some wave spray to break up the curls and make them look more natural and lived in. This one is a gorgeous formula, it's not crispy and it feels like nothing in the hair.

Recently there have been a few hair brands catching my eye. I'm not really one to spend a lot on haircare products, I'd rather splurge on other items, and treat all my hair needs down the isles of Boots. I do feel there are a lot more middle-market hair brands popping up though, so I wanted to see if they are really better than the Doves, and the L'Oreals I tend to use on the daily. O&M, and Ouai are two brands in particular that I wanted to try. Ouai has been everywhere since it's launch so there's no surprise they were on the top of my list to try. O&M is a brand I don't hear as much about, but I love their packaging and the product I'm about to show you is right up my street so I had to grab it!

O&M Know Knott Conditioning Detangler: Leave in conditioner sprays are my jam, I love how they make my hair feel. I have quite long hair, so it's definitely prone to getting tangled, especially as I wear it down most of the time, so give me a product which claims to soften and detangle the hair, and I'm all ears! The smell is super amazing too, much nicer then the Dove one I was using before. It's very fresh and fruity, perfect for summer! I will apply this to my freshly washed hair, once I've hopped out the shower, and it leaves my hair feeling so soft and nourished once it's dry. I especially love this if I wash my hair in the mornings as the smell is just amazing throughout the day.

Ouai Wave Spray: In the summer, I really love beachy waves - I mean, who doesn't? If I do curl my hair, I'll always reach for a spray like this to roughen them up a bit, and create a more casual do. This handy travel size is also perfect for taking to the beach with you, so you can really emphasise those textured, beach waves. It smell like suncream, but in a good way, it will really remind you of sipping cocktails by the ocean, and splashing about in the sea if you use this in the winter. So far, I'm loving this and really want to try out more from the range. Maybe their hair oil next?

Always remember to take time for yourself.

I love to pamper myself, I mean, who doesn't. If I have an evening to myself I'll light some candles, throw on some music and get really get into the pamper groove. It's so important to set a couple of hours aside every now and then to wind down and treat yourself to some well deserved me time. There's always four things I love to focus on when I pamper myself and those are, bath, body, face and hair, all of which I'll be talking about today. Every so often I'll throw a couple of other bits into the mix, but this is a great base routine to get started with.

I tend to wash my hair every 3 days, depending on my schedule. I have very oily hair so I have a few tips and tricks up my sleeve which help me to look presentable when exiting the house. If you're looking to stop washing your hair so often, or you find your hair gets greasy quickly, here's a little routine to combat that...

Day 1: Wash, but don't blow dry: Of course it all starts with the washing of the hair. I like to use whatever hair shampoo and conditioner is on offer, so I don't have a preference. At the moment I'm using the L'Oreal Extraordinary Clay Balancing Shampoo and Conditioner. This duo is designed for those who have oily roots yet dry ends, an amazing concept and I love the way it's making my hair feel. The reason I say no to blow-drying my hair is because I find the more heat I use, the more product I end up using, and my hair can end up feeling clogged, especially at the roots. Enjoy your day - and if you're like me, your only day - of clean hair!

Day 2: Style it out: On second day hair I tend to experiment with styles and maybe I'll add in a few curls. My hair tends to feel a bit dryer and not as clean come the second day so I may put it in an up-do, or keep it down but add some Batiste Dry Shampoo to soak up any oil in the roots. If I pop my hair up, I'll either go for a braid or a classic pony tail, my hair has never done the whole messy bun thing, it never looks good. Invisibobbles are what I use when putting my hair up as they don't leave a kink, so if I change my mind halfway through the day and wear my hair down, it's not an issue. I will sometimes curl my hair too on day 2 just for something different, and the only extra hair products I use will be a heat protectant, hair spray, then maybe a texture spray of some kind. Your hair will have more hold to it on the second day, so I recommend curing it and styling it at this stage.

Day 3: Dry shampoo 'till the cows come home: This is the day where I don't go sparingly on the dry shampoo. By this point I've probably been touching my hair way more than I should, so the oils have really built up around the roots, a habit I want to kick in 2017 for sure. I'll either repeat my style from the day before, depending on how greasy my hair is, but 9 times out of 10 I'll go for a volumised classic pony tail. The dry shampoo will add the volume you need to the roots so it's as easy as scraping all your hair back and tying it up, leaving a few strands at the front if you wish. By keeping my hair out my face on the third day, if I am out and about, I know I wont be touching it so I can guarantee the dry shampoo will do it's job for the whole day.

Occasionally I'll get a fourth day out of it, in which case I'll repeat day three and pray I look okay.

My 3-Day Routine To Avoid Greasy Hair.

The start of year is always the busiest for those gym goers. A new year and everyone wants get fitter and stronger and get a start on that summer bod. If that's you, then here are a few beauty essentials I feel you should keep with you when hitting that treadmill...

Origins VitaZing Moisturiser: I'm not the biggest makeup fan when I work out, but a little tinted moisturiser never hurt. If you like a little something something on the skin this is a really great product to keep in your gym bag. It comes out a grey colour and then it adjusts to your skin, giving you a nice glow and evened out look to the skin. It's definitely not a heavy base by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a good hydrating option.

Mitchum 48 Hour Pure Fresh Deodorant: Deodorant is obviously a must have when you work out and I love the ones from Mitchum because they are very hardcore. I like their stick formulas as their not too drying on the under arms and I feel like they actually do something. The fresh scent is very unoffensive and one I feel everyone can get along with. A little tip I have with deodorant as well is to apply it just before you go bed, I find this makes it even more sweat proof come the next day.

Caudalie Beauty Elixer: This is a life savour at the end of a workout, it makes be feel that little bit fresher when I'm making my journey back home. I'm not one to shower at the gym, I prefer to be in my own space and have a good proper cleanse, so a pick-me-up like this is great for when I'm done sweating out. I have the travel size and it's perfect for throwing in my bag. It's such a refreshing mist and I love the way it makes my skin feel.

Clinique High Impact Waterproof Mascara: If you fancy wearing a little bit more makeup to the gym then picking up a good waterproof, or smudge proof mascara, will be essential for you. I adore the Clinique mascaras, they are definitely worth the money. Their High Impact formula is great for defining the lashes naturally and adding a nice amount of length and volume, and it being waterproof means it will survive that cardio session.

Bobbi Brown Skin Serum Corrector: This is another one for those who prefer a bit more makeup, you can never go wrong with a corrector or concealer. For me, if I do wear makeup to the gym, it's normally a mix of this with some mascara and then the Origins moisturiser as a natural base. As it's a serum concealer so it's a lot more breathable under the eyes and offers a great amount of hydration.

Invisibobble: If you work out with your hair up, which I highly recommend, then I suggest getting a few invisibobbles. These are hairbands which don't leave a kink in the hair, perfect for when you work out and then have to be somewhere after. I have the brown ones, as I have brown hair, and they do actually hold your hair in place, so I think they're great.

The Gym Goer's Beauty Edit.
