A good hydrating face mask can go a long way in the winter months. My skin seems to take on a snake-like mentality, shedding every other day, feeling very dry and scaly. Sexy I know, but who can relate? As well as keeping on top of my daily skincare routine, I love to incorporate a few masks to amp up my regime a couple of times a week to help with how nourished and hydrated my skin feels. These are all masks made to boost radiance and hydration, something my skin is in dyer need of at the moment.

 Fresh Rose Hydrating Mask

This is one I have been raving about for years now, it's by far my top pick of the three I'm going to mention today. Fresh do some amazing skincare products, and their masks (though quite expensive) are something I can always rely on when my skin is playing up. Their Rose Hydrating Mask really does encompass everything I want a hydrating mask to be. Containing rose, cucumber extract and aloe vera, this not only tones and nourishes the skin but it helps to soothe as well - an essential benefit for me if my skin is feeling red and irritated.

Evolve Organic Beauty Radiance Glow Mask

This is fairly new to my mask collection, but upon the first few uses I really have fallen in love. This offers a slight exfoliation which my skin laps up in the winter months. Not the most appealing in the jar, but I really love how this mask makes my skin feel. I leave it on for about 10 minutes and rinse with warm water - my skin honestly feels so so soft and nourished. I can't recommend this enough for a quick hit of radiance.

 Cuticura Dry Cream Skin

Not what you typically think of when talking about hydrating masks, but this is such a saviour if your skin is really having a moment of dryness. This is more of a treatment cream, so it is super super thick and very hydrating, definitely not a cream you'd want to apply before makeup! The way I've been using this is as a light layer all over skin and leaving it overnight to work it's magic. An overnight mask if you will. I reserve this for those days when I have patches of very dry and irritated skin and it works wonders. This is also very affordable, so I would highly recommended adding this to your skincare stash in case of a dry skin emergency!

Let's face it...winter mornings are dark and bleak, and I want to spend as much time curled up in bed as possible. Understandably this makes mornings very very difficult, even more so than usual. With this being said I do still like to put on some kind of makeup to make myself feel, and look, more human. I have a select few products I've been reaching for that make getting ready that little bit easier.

Concealer

Image result for bobbi brown corrector"
I always always always conceal as I find that's the perfect first step to get my face looking a little perkier. I'm obsessed with the Bobbi Brown Correctors, and this peach one does a fab job at getting of of dark circles. It's quite thick, but I don't find that it creases throughout the day, and a little goes a long way.

Base

I will then opt for a light coverage base to even out my skin tone. As the concealer is very high coverage, I sometimes find that I need a light layer of something else around my face to even things out a little. The MAC Face and Body is such a staple in my collection. It's super light and feels like nothing on the skin. I will blend this in with a beauty blender and I'm ready for the day.

Cheeks

Image result for hourglass ambient lighting palette"Bronze, blush and highlight are also a no-brainer for me. I think as long as you have a good strong base, everything else can be kept fairly minimal. The Hourglass palettes are the perfect one-and-done for all things cheekbones. This is their Ambient Lighting Palette, one on my favourites releases from the brand, and has everything you need. I mix the bronzer and blush shades together and sweep across the cheeks, finishing with a touch of the golden highlight. Such a simple way to look glowing this winter!

Eye crayon

These have been a new discovery for me this year, and I love the formula, very creamy and easy to apply. This is a light champagne shade that looks gorgeous on the lids and inner corner to really brighten the eye area. They have a tonne of different shades, so definitely give them a go if you can.

 Mascara

Image result for loreal lash paradise"
Finishing off with mascara of course. I use lashings of the L'Oreal Lash Paradise to open the eyes and to make me look more awake. When in doubt, loads of mascara right? I love this formula, cheep and cheerful, lasts ages and makes your lashes so full. You can build this for a dramatic lash look, or keep it paired back for day-to-day. Definitely a mascara I would recommend checking out.

Come winter, comes dry skin - that seems to be the motto I live by this time of year, not by choice of course. I am definitely one of those people who will consciously add more moisturising products into their routine in the colder months, and for me that all starts with a cracking night treatment.

Image result for dermalogica sleep cocoonDermalogica have a few stand-out products in their range for dry/dull skin, and in today's post I'm going to be focusing on their Sound Sleep Cocoon. If you do want to hear my thoughts on some of their other products do let me know!

This is an overnight treatment, much like the Origins Drink Up Intense Mask but with a bit more going on and a slightly lighter formula. Their Sleep Cocoon has been specifically formulated to hydrate and brighten the skin whilst you sleep - getting your beauty sleep has never rung so true. It doesn't feel like your traditional moisturiser, it almost has that silicone slip to it, but it feels gorgeous on the skin.

With Tamarind Seed, Lavender Oil and Silk Tree Extract packed in, this really is a lovely nighttime treatment. The hints of lavender help to relax me as well, making it even easier to get to sleep, big plus! If you're sensitive to essential oils that maybe something to bare in mind, however I don't find them too overpowering personally. My skin the next day feels so so soft, and I can certainly see it appears brighter and more hydrated. I do tend to pair this on top of my Farryn Amber Lunar Night Oil which is amazing too for dry skin!

Now this is quite pricey, at £72 this isn't going to be something you pick up on a whim, however if that is within your budget and you're after a product to truly transform your skin overnight I think it's money well spent.

Fresh is a brand that I have been using for years now, and I continue to find new products I love from their range. They have a wonderful selection to suit any skin concern - I've even got my mum hooked!! I have my stand-out products which I use all the time, such as the Soy Cleanser and Rose Hydrating Mask, however I wanted to touch a few products I have been using lately which maybe I don't talk about all that much.

To give this post a little bit of context, my skin is dry/combo. I get an oily t-zone from time to time, but on the whole my skin tends to lean on the dry and dehydrated end of the scale. For that, I love to use products which offer a tonne of hydration, as well as brightening properties.

Let's try to go in order of application, so I guess we'll start with the mask...

I definitely don't use this everyday, however since living and working in London, my skin certainly needs a helping hand when it comes to easing congestion. Their Umbrian Clay Mask is your classic clay consistency that dries down and sucks out any dirt from your pores. I will apply this 1-2 times a week, mainly when I can see my skin really needs it, and it's a lovely way to detox the skin at the end of the day. You get quite a lot of product in here, I've had this tub for a while now and I still have plenty left. Their masks are more on the pricey side, I believe this retails for around £50, but I can't recommend them enough. This also contains camomile which is great for soothing the skin and avoiding that tight/stripped feeling you can sometimes get when using clarifying products.

Onto the more day-to-day products, the first being the Rose Hydrating Toner Mist - I can't start my day without this! I adore toners in the morning, especially ones you can simply mist onto the skin to perk-up and refresh the face. This is really soothing on the skin as well, and gives an instant dose of hydration - the rose scent isn't too overpowering which I appreciate.

Essences are a product I never really knew I needed in my skincare routine, but I'm hooked! They were used in traditional Korean skincare, and I feel like the SKII essence popularised them in the Western world, making other brands follow suit. The Fresh Black Tea Kombucha Treatment Essence is what I have been currently using and I love love love it. This has anti-pollution properties which I'm all about right now (thanks to the Kombucha) and the extracts of mandarin help to even out the skin's complexion. There's a lot of great benefits packed into this product which is why I've been reaching for it both day and night. I like to apply my essences after I've cleansed, but before any serums. They almost act as a hydration sponge for any moisturisers/oils you may apply after. Big win for me.

Have you tried Fresh? If so, what do you love from their range?

A couple of weeks ago I jetted off to Italy to enjoy a few days of sun, ice cream, and most importantly pizza! I wanted to her away before Autumn gets into full swing here in the UK - safe to say Autumn 2019 is definitely
here!!

I have definitely become a lot more minimal with my makeup choices and application. A full face of foundation seems, and feels, totally alien to me now. Instead, I've been sticking to concealer and a touch of powder when necessary. I find the Nars Soft Matte Concealers so easy to travel with, and they are my perfect formula for both under the eyes, and to correct any blemishes on the skin. I do have two shades to really get the most out of this fantastic formula. As for powder, I'm huge Hourglass fan. I find they matify the skin, without looking cakey and masking your natural glow. This handy trio has a few different shades to pick from, personally I just mix them all together and go to town!

Bronzer, blush and highlight are my staples, I will never travel without these. I'm back using the Hoola Bronzer which I find is such a lovely shade when you have a bit of a tan. This mini is adorable and perfect to pop in your travel makeup bag. Doesn't this just remind of holidays?! I'm not too fussy with my blush, but on this particular trip I threw in the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Dim Infusion. Their powders are just lovely, and this is a beautiful coral shade which I love to wear in the summer months. I kept it very simple with highlighter and went for the classic MAC MSF in Soft and Gentle. This is a beautiful champagne shade which adds the most wonderful glow.

I never do much with my brows these day, a quick bit of definition is all I really need. My favourite for this is the Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil for filling in any sparse areas, and making them appear fuller and more defined. This had a little triangular nib that is super easy to use, complete with the handy spooly on the end, this is amuse for any travel makeup kit. Once I'm done filling them in, I will set them down the Benefit 24 Hour Brow Setter, and boy does this stuff work!

On a daily basis I will tend to reach for a cream eyeshadow to act as a 'one wash wander' type look. I love the By Terry Ombre Blackstars as they are very travel friendly and have a lovely shade selection. My personal favourite is Bronze Moon which can vert easily be transitioned from day-to-night. I did also throw in my Nars Kalahari eye duo incase I want to switch things up. This contains a shimmery taupe and a matte brown, so great for amping up any look. I'm really keen to pick up more of these, so do let know which duo is your favourite too! In addition to that, I've packed my Topshop Liquid Liner incase I'm feeling extra sassy one night. Liner is the easiest way to add a bit of drama to your eye look, so I always love to have one on hand. I've only been using one mascara lately, and that's my L'Oreal Lash Paradise. I adore this for giving volume and length to my lashes - it seems to do it all, without flaking!

As for lips, I normally throw in a nude lip liner, and about 10 different options! Changing up your lip colour is the best way to switch up your look, especially from day-to-night. Add a couple of your current favourites and you'll be good to go!

This winter my skin has been the worst it ever been. My chin/nose area has been so dry and red and irritated, I’m finding it impossible to keep on top of a decent routine.  With that being said, I’ve completely stripped my skincare back to basics and am trying not to overwhelm it.

When I received the new Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance* it sounded exactly what my skin needed! I was hesitant to try it as I didn’t want to introduce anything new into my routine which may have a negative effect. I did however give it a go, and it’s really wowed me!

I been using this as my PM moisturiser - don’t worry, it’s not as thick as it may sound, it’s actually just like my other creamy products I like to use, so I’m more than happy to use it everyday despite its intense name! If you have dry skin like me, I don’t think you’ll find this to be too heavy to use everyday, especially in the winter months. Before I apply this, I go in with a cleanser, toner, facial essence, and then a tiny bit of oil. This locks everything in place and seals that moisture deal!
Now, the price is fairly up there for a moisturiser. At £68 it’s not affordable, however if you’ve been struggling with dry skin over the cold months I think you’ll be really impressed with this.

A few more things to note...it has Vitamin C which is amazing for brightening the skin and improving your skins texture and tone. I love Vitamin C, it’s such a hero ingredient in my opinion. It’s also in a handy squeezy tube which is completely opaque to protect the product from being effected by sunlight (yes, that is a thing!).

Overall, I’m so happy this landed in my life. It’s the perfect product to save dry, irritated skin, and the balancing properties are what my skin craves this time of year.

Let me know if you’ve tried this, or what other products you can’t live without in the winter months.
