Creating a Brighter Smile; Happy National Smile Month.

It's National Smile Month!...

Happy National Smile Month everyone, I hope you're blinding people with those pearly whites! When Janina contacted me asking to try out a couple of their products to promote oral health and safe teeth whitening, I couldn't wait to jump on board and give you a few tips on how to create a brighter, whiter smile! I was really excited to try out a couple of the whitening products as they're made with natural fruit enzymes, as oppose to harsh abrasives. As I'm prone to a bit of sensitivity I was super happy to discover these.

New to My Skincare Stash.

When all your skincare runs out at the same time...

Every few months or so I find myself running out of 70% of my skincare products...does any body else find this? My products just love to run out at the same time! As much as I'm a sucker for returning back to products I know and love, I also have a huge list of skincare items I want to try out, so I'm slowly making my way through that. Instead of waiting around a month to share my thoughts, I wanted to give you my first impressions on a few new skincare bits I'm trialling currently.

A First-Timer's Guide to Fake Tanning.

Suns out buns out...

It's that time of year again, the suns out and my limbs are blinding people with their whiteness...oh summer how I love thee. All is not lost though people. I only started to fake tan (as in using actual instant fake tan, not the gradual stuff) a couple of years ago. I still consider myself a complete noob, if that's you too, then keep on reading! Now that I've got some kind of tanning routine down, I'm not likely to stray, it's not something I'm willing to experiment too much with. That Oompa Loompa life doesn't appeal to me.

A Few Things I'm Currently Loving For Spring.

Some of my current beauty favourites...

I've been trying out a few new bits lately which I'm head over heals for. The majority of the selection I have here are completely new to the blog and I'm happy to be finally sharing my thoughts. My skincare has had a bit of a rejig, and my makeup collection seems to be flourishing with new NARS products, but I'm happy with how things are shaping up around the beauty department of my home. I hope you enjoy reading through some of my current faves for Spring.

An Etsy Shop for all your Minimal Jewellery Needs.

My go-to Etsy shop whenever I need some new jewellery pieces...

I recently had a bit of jewellery sort out and realised that I really needed - ok, wanted - some lovely new bits to add to my everyday stash. I have a nice watch, necklace and one lonely ring which I wear everyday and I felt like it needed a few friends. I went to Etsy as they have so many good independent shops on there with some gorgeous pieces. I came across this one shop however which seemed to tick every box!

Spring Lip Picks.

Can anybody tell I'm all about the pinks?

For me, Spring makeup just oozes pretty lip shades and glowing skin. I get so excited and inspired by all the beautiful blooms blossoming in April and May that I always seem to pick up a ton of new lippies to try out. This season, I am loving the pinky coral shades, so nice for this tome of year. There are a couple of new products in here as well which I can't wait to share with you. If there are any lipstick you are obsessing over right now, please let me know down below, I would love to check them out!

Worth the Hype? NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer.

My thoughts on one of the most hyped concealers of the season...

It's no secret that NARS have some great base products on the market. Since their Radiant Creamy Concealer hit the shelves, we all went mad, and since then every new release has been a similar story. Pot concealers are very hit and miss. Some can be excellent coverage, but super drying, and others can be too thick and cakey to use under the eyes. So, these new NARS soft matte concealers? How do they compare?...

Finishing University; My Thoughts and Plans for the Future.

Work hard. Play harder.

I honestly can't believe my three years of University are nearly up. In less than two weeks I'll be handing over my dissertation and calling it a day. Please world, be nice to me. I've learnt a lot over the three years, not only about myself as a person, but what I want to achieve and the direction I want to take myself in later life. I still see myself as 16, barely out of high school, but I'm now 20 and starting my life for real, so it's time to put on my big girl pants and do this. This post is a little insight into my time at University and some thoughts I have going on.

Four Step Pamper Routine.

Always remember to take time for yourself.

I love to pamper myself, I mean, who doesn't. If I have an evening to myself I'll light some candles, throw on some music and get really get into the pamper groove. It's so important to set a couple of hours aside every now and then to wind down and treat yourself to some well deserved me time. There's always four things I love to focus on when I pamper myself and those are, bath, body, face and hair, all of which I'll be talking about today. Every so often I'll throw a couple of other bits into the mix, but this is a great base routine to get started with.

My Favourite Brands to Save, Spend and Splurge on.

I love to discover new beauty brands from all ranges of the price spectrum. Sometimes I feel that the price of an item can falsely represent the quality, especially with cheaper brands. I want to do more drugstore style posts to show that you really can get great products on a budget, but today I wanted to share with you the brands I love to use across the board, no matter the price, these brands and products never let me down. There are so many other brands out there I love, and ones I talk about all the time, but I'm sure the ones I'm mentioning today will be no surprise to you all. If there's any products from these brands which you love and use all the time please let me know, I'd love to try more.

How to Become a Calm Traveller.

I feel very lucky and privileged to say that I've done my fair share of travelling over the 20 years of my existence. Discovering new places and seeing what the world has to offer is a gift that I feel everyone should experience. Put me on a 5 hour flight, and I'm fine, anything long haul however, I struggle. I wouldn't say I get anxious over whether or not we're going to make it without plummeting to the ground... I get more anxious over whether or not my stomach can handle being in the air for 7+ hours - I have puked multiple times on a flight hence the worry...

This has definitely affected me negatively and I get extremely worked up when it comes to hopping on a plane, even beforehand in the airport I can feel my stomach turn. I never thought travel sickness would really effect me and when I was younger being sick on a flight never worried me, as not much does when you're 6, but now I'm older it's something which is impacting me more and more.

If you're in the same boat as me, here are a few tips I have which help get me in the right frame of mind and make the flight a lot easier and not a deterrent for allowing you to see the world.

My Spring Base.

I've been all about cream products lately, and I think Spring is the perfect season to stow away all the powders, and have a little play around with dewy skin. That's not to say you can't achieve glowing skin with powders, you can, but for me I love the way cream formulas look and blend on the skin. My base so far in Spring has been, light, fresh, minimal and dewy, and here's what I use to achieve that.

NEW IN: Origins Flower Fusion Sheet Masks.

| ORIGINS FLOWER FUSION SHEET MASKS |
When I first saw that Origins were realising sheet masks I could not wait to try them. For years Origins has been one of my top skincare brands and one I always go back to. Their masks are fab, they have some great options for all skin concerns, so it's safe to say I had high hopes for these bad boys!

Off The Shoulder Staples And What To Pair Them With.

The off the shoulder trend is not going anywhere this Spring and Summer - yay! - it's in full force and I'm always seeing new patterns and colours I want to add to my wardrobe. I think off the shoulder pieces are so flattering and the little shoulder reveal is very sexy, without showing too much skin. I thought it would be a nice idea to share some staple off the shoulder tops I have in my wardrobe and how I like to style them. This is just a bit of inspo for you guys, I'm not telling you to dress like this, you do you!

5 For Spring.

I adore spring, it's definitely my favourite season, I love it when the flowers bloom and all the shops start to bring in beautiful colours and textures for spring and summer. It's a happy season, and can I mention it's now light until about 7:30/8pm!!! Hooray! I wanted to share with you a few bits I've rotated into my Spring beauty routines, I have a couple of skincare and some makeup bits. I'm a huge fan of fresh, brightened skin, so these help to achieve that.

Skincare 101: Key Ingredients and What They Do.

I want to throw a little disclaimer out there before we begin...I am not a skincare expert, this is just a little run down of a few ingredients I love and are know are very popular and I wanted to shed some light on the benefits they can give your skin. What works for me may not work for you so bare that in mind. The most important thing when it comes to buying skincare is to know your skin type then go from there.

My Streamlined Makeup Stash for Spring.

This Spring I really wanted to give myself the challenge of streamlining my makeup and housing it all in this handy little makeup organiser which I picked up off ASOS. I think I've done pretty well, there are still a few extras I'll reach for from time to time, however the main bits are in here, so let me give you a little tour...

I've recently come across a few blogs I've been obsessed with lately and I wanted to spread the love and hopefully tell you about some you may not already be following. I've got five here to chat about today, a mix of fashion, lifestyle and beauty, so a nice mix for everyone.

& Other Stories Perle de Coco.

Perle de Coco Body Lotion
& Other stories is a brand I've really fallen for, especially their bath and body products. The chic packaging, reasonable prices and scents will have you wanting more for sure. I picked up a couple of their body products a year or so ago, and I wanted to see what else they have on offer. I came across the Perle de Coco scent, and oh boy, this stuff is good.

Testing Out Nourish Skincare.

One of my goals this year is to try more skincare and vary the brands I reach for. There are absolutely loads of amazing products out there and I wanted to expand my gaze so I can share with you what's worth checking out. Nourish is a brand I have seen on Instagram and blogs, and I got sucked in by the lovely, chic packaging and wanted to test some things out for myself.

Cruelty Free Beauty Brands To Try.

I've been really interested in finding out which brands are cruelty free and don't test on animals. I know there are so many people who feel really passionately about animal testing and using products that are cruelty free, and after doing some research there are a loads of brands that fall under that category! Here are a few which I think you should check out...

There are so many makeup products and brands at our disposal, it can be hard to decide what to buy and what to pass up. Skincare That Won't Break The Bank.

I've always loved skincare, and I do love to invest, but that's not always necessary as there are so many great picks for a lower price. Over the years I've tried a lot of inexpensive skincare brands and I've found some absolute gems which I can't wait to share. Whether you're looking for some cheaper bits and bobs, or you're starting off building your skincare collection, I hope you can take something away from this post. I'm aware that some of these are around the £15/£20 mark, but that's still a lot cheaper than some skincare products from higher end brands, so I still wanted to include them...

My Picks For Valentines Day.

Valentines Day is right around the corner and whether you're heading out for a romantic date, or drinks with friends, I wanted to share some makeup picks I think would be perfect for the occasion. I'm (hopefully) going to be heading out for dinner with the bf so I know I'll be reaching for these when it's time to get ready...

My Go-To Look For University/Work.

I never like to go too full on with my makeup day-to-day, especially if I'm heading to university or work. I find I don't always have the time to do a full face so there are a few things in particular I like to use which save time and are often multipurpose and don't have me reaching for a million and one products...

This Works Perfect Look Skin Miracle, £28: This is the perfect product to apply under your foundation to give your skin a boost in colour and glow. It's a bonze-y toned cream which creates such a beautiful canvas for makeup. My skin always look so much more even, dewy and perfected. It's a great pick-me-up when you're rushing in the mornings.

Charlotte Tilbury Miracle Eye Wand, £29: I like to grab products which have a couple of different uses, this eye wand from CT contains an eye serum and a brightening concealer, perfect! The serum helps to tighten under the eyes and add hydration, whilst the peachy toned concealer brightens and hides any discolouration. I love the formula of this, super hydrating and perfect for under the eyes!

Hourglass Ambient Palette in Surreal Light, £69: This has everything you need to finish off your base makeup. The powder in here is beautiful for setting the makeup without looking cakey and too flat. It also has a lovely bronzer shade which is gorgeous under the cheekbones, across the forehead and down the nose to add a bronze glow to the skin. The two blushes are also very wearable and look amazing mixed together. There is a brighter pink shade which brightens up the completion, and a more mauve toned pink, which I've loved over the winter months. We can't forget about highlight either, and this palette has a really pretty golden/champagne shimmery shade which is perfect on the tops of the cheekbones. I find highlighter really finishes off the face nicely and I feel so much more confident once I have a good glow going on.

Benefit Gimme Brow, £20: I hardly do anything to my brows these days. A bit of gel and I'm good to go! The Benefit Gimme Brow is my all time fave as the tiny wand makes it so easy to add definition to the brows. It gives your brows an added boost of volume as well as setting them in place all day long.

NARS Kalahari Eyeshadow Duo, £25: Picking up a good eyeshadow duo will be key for creating a well defined eye in seconds. This one from NARS contains a shimmery bronze-y taupe shade, perfect for over the lid and the lower lash line, as well as a medium toned matte warm brown which is great for the crease. You don't have to create a crazy smokey eye, but having a couple of go-to shades is so helpful in the mornings as I know exactly what I want to reach for.

MAX Factor Masterpiece Mascara, £9.99: I tend to grab any mascara which is open, at the moment it's been this one from MAX Factor which gives your lashes loads of definition and length. It's a rubber wand that grabs every lash giving you a lovely butterfly affect to the lashes. You can never go wrong with a good drugstore mascara and MAX Factor always have some lovely ones on offer.

Nars Lovejoy Blush.

I've always wanted to try more from NARS, especially their blushes. I'm head over heels for their Laguna Bronzer, so I figured picking up a blush or two would go down a treat. I spent ages looking at swatches online, and in-store, and I really wanted something a bit different and not you classic 'Orgasm'. I found the shade 'Lovejoy' and I absolutely love it...

Nars Lovejoy is not your standard run of the mill shade. I have a tonne of pink and peach toned blushes in my collection so I wanted something which was a but different, a tad warmer and something that would look super pretty in the colder months. I would describe this as a rusty gold shade, it's got a slightly peachy undertone but it's almost that brick red/orange shade. Do you think I could describe it using any more colours?... In the pan this looks very dark and could definitely put a few people off, me included, but going on this unique blush endeavour I wanted to swatch everything I could.

This is very similar to Benefit Dallas, if you've ever tried that, it has those brown hues to it that you can easily warm up the face with. Although this is a bit darker, I wouldn't replace my bronzer with it as it's a bit too on the warm orangey side for that, but on it's own it looks beautiful.

The formula of NARS blushes are so lovely, they're very blendable and buttery and don't take off or blend away the makeup underneath. I'm definitely going to head back to NARS to pick up a few more of these blushes, they're all gorgeous and I love the shades they do. Please leave your recommendations below of you've tried any for yourself.

Charlotte Tilbury Products Worth The Splurge.

Charlotte Tilbury is one of my favourite brands, the woman can do no wrong in my eyes. I've never done a brand focus post before, but for high-end brands I think it's nice to see what people love and recommend so you know whether or not to splash the cash. I'm going to be rattling off a few of my faves so you can get a feel for what's hot...

Wonderglow, £38.50: As far as glowing skin in a bottle goes, this one is pretty great. If you're after a beautiful, golden dewy sheen to the skin then this will have you covered. It's so pretty and more subtle than other glow inducing primers I've tried, making it perfect for everyday. I also like to mix this in with foundations to give them a dewy finish on the skin.

Filmstar Bronze and Glow, £49: I've very quickly fallen in love with this product, it comes with a bronzer and a highlight shade, both of which are stunning. The bronzer is a medium tone, really nice to use under the cheekbones and around the face. The formula is really blendable so you won't have those awkward bronze stripes across you cheeks! The highlight shade in this is truly beautiful, it's a golden shade which looks amazing on the tops of the cheekbones and down the nose. It also adds a soft focus affect to the skin which I love.

Eyeshadow Quads, £38: I love that Charlotte creates specific looks that you can build on and the eyeshadow quads are definitely the key component of those. The colour selections are so gorgeous, very blendable and pigmented. My two favourites are The Sophisticate, which is an all matte palette made up of natural brown tones, and Dolce Vita, which is more glam and has a stunning bronze shimmer shade. There are still a couple I would love to own, but these two I would highly recommend and I think would look fab on everyone.

Colour Chameleons, £19: I love a good cream stick eyeshadow and the formula of the CT ones are some of my favourites. You can create such a gorgeous eye look in a matter of seconds, they are so easy to use and last all day, you really can't go wrong! I love the shade Dark Pearl which is a deep taupe shade, it looks gorgeous in the evenings smoked out, or on the lash line day to day for some subtle definition. They work great underneath eyeshadows, as well as on their own.

Rock n Kohl Liners, £19: I don't tend to reach for pencil liners a lot, but when I do Barberella Brown is the one I grab. These liners are so creamy, yet they stay in place all day and don't smudge. I'm definitely more of a brown liner gal, and Barberella Brown is a lovely dark chocolatey shade. The shade Eye Cheat is also lovely for the lower waterline. Because it's a flesh tone, it will really open and brighten the eyes.

Lip Cheat, £16: Charlotte Tilbury's Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk has definitely become one of her most iconic products. This shade is so beautiful and the perfect nude-y pink to cheat and enhance your lip shape. I don't think I've reached for any other nude lip pencil in a while thanks to this, I really adore it. It's so creamy, doesn't drag on the lips, and it looks super natural.

K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipsticks, £23: Her lipsticks are not only gorgeous to look at, but they look even better once applied to the lips. I absolutely love the shades Bitch Perfect and Coachella Coral. The former is a lovely nude shade, very wearable for everyday and last well on the lips. It's a matte shade which is very on-trend and the pinky undertone make it a lovely natural option. Coachella Coral is more of a summer shade, as the name would suggest it's s lovely coraly pink. This one has a bit more shine than Bitch Perfect, but I think that finish really compliments this shade well.

My Go-To Products For When I'm Feeling Run Down.

I don't think anyone makes it through winter without catching some kind of cold or bug. It's pretty rubbish when you're ill and all you want to do is lay in bed and binge of your favourite Netflix show. That's definitely top of my priority list when I'm ill too, but there are also a few thing I reach for when I'm not feeling my best...

LUSH Butterbear Bath Melt: A nice bath wouldn't be complete without some kind of bath bomb or bubbles. I adore this bath melt from LUSH as it's so hydrating on the skin and feels super luxurious to use. The smell is a very nice, sweet vanilla scent topped off with some Shea butter, it's truly glorious. It's exactly what my body needs after being in bed all day.

LUSH Oatifix Face Mask: I also love to use a face mask to hydrate and rejuvenate my skin. I really like Oatifix from LUSH, the smell is very subtle and it's completely natural making it good enough to eat - but don't. The oats make this slightly exfoliating and leave my skin feeling so soft.

Origins GinZing Moisturiser: I still like to do somewhat of a skincare routine, even though I may miss out a few steps, as it makes me feel so much more human. I always reach for a brightening moisturiser which is going to wake up the skin. This Origins one smells amazing and is a gel formula so it adds a lot of hydration to the skin.

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Primer: My skin always lacks glow when I'm ill so I like to add that back in as best I can. Primers are a great way to make your skin look plump, and dewy, but without having to do a full face of makeup including highlighters etc. I love this L'Oreal one, it's super similar to the Dior Glow Maximiser which is one of my favourites. It's more of a pearl shimmer, than golden, but it adds such a nice sheen to the skin and makes you look healthy and refreshed.

5 Good Things: January 2017.

I can't believe the first month is 2017 is nearly over, I still feel like we're only 1 or 2 weeks in! This year I really want to share my favourites with you all more regularly and include things other than beauty. I thought talking about 5 good things which I've been enjoying at the end of every month was a good, quick way to keep you all up to date, so it goes...

1. The Peak District: This month the fam and I took a little trip to the Peak District, which is a National Park here in the UK. It was so nice to be one with nature and have a little technology break. The scenery was beautiful and we went for my sisters birthday so there was also a lot of booze consumed...Overall it was such a nice little break and something I definitely want to do more of this year, after all, nothing beats the English countryside!

2. Origins skincare: There have been a couple of bits from Origins which have really stood out to me this past month. Origins is one of my favourite skincare brands so it's no surprise I found a couple of gems. Their Retexturising Mask with Rose Clay is a fab one for detoxifying the skin. The clay sucks out all your impurities and the gunk, whereas the rose helps to hydrate and nourish the skin, not something you normally get with a clay mask! The next is their Original Skin Serum which  I've been using in the mornings to brighten and add another layer of hydration to the skin. This works so well underneath makeup, it;s very lightweight and feels like a total dream on the skin.

3. Get Your Sh*t Together, Sarah Knight: This is an amazing book if you struggle with motivation. I'm currently at university so need all the help I can get, and this book certainly gives me that kick up the ass I need! It shows you how you can plan out your day more affectively, to writing the perfect to-do list which will actually get you to do things! Sarah's books are really funny and take a super relaxed approach to the subject at hand.

4. Nashville: I've recently started watching the show Nashville and ooh jeez, I'm hooked! I love music and singing, so when it's incorporated into a TV show I get super excited and can't wait to get stick in. I've nearly finished the first series and I'm so happy I started watching it. If you like a good drama, and/or country music, it's a great watch.

5. Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow: This has not left my makeup bag the whole month. I've tried a lot from CT and I'm yet to find a product I don't like, she's a total makeup wizard! The bronzer in this is the perfect medium tone, not too orange, but not too ashy. It's matte so you can use it to contour if you wish. My favourite part about this little palette is the highlight, holy moly, it's good stuff. It's a beautiful golden tone which somehow blurs the skin at the same time as adding an insane glow.

Achieving the Perfect Night Sleep.

Sleep is such an important thing in everyones life and I feel like one big new years resolution we should all have is go to bed earlier and get more sleep, who's with me?! My bedtime routine can definitely be improved so I get a better quality of sleep and wake up feeling fresh. Here's a few tips to achieving that perfect night sleep...

Get rid of any blue light: Blue light is essentially the brightness your phone and laptop screen give off, and staring at it before you go to sleep isn't going to be very beneficial. It keeps your mind awake. This is something I need to work on too, but shutting down your electronics 30 minutes (or more) before going to bed will really help your mind to switch off and relax. I'm currently reading 'Get your sh*t together' by Sarah Knight before I go to bed, which is a great read for motivation and it really makes me what to get some zzz's and get up early to start my day.

Use a sleep spray: If you struggle to relax and wind down try spraying your room with a calming fragrance. I love the This Works Pillow Spray which I've spoken about a lot, but it's fab! I spray this on my pillow and around my bedroom 10 minutes before I go to sleep and it really helps you to drift off. It's infused with lavender and chamomile to help you fall asleep naturally and wake up fresher.

'Do not disturb': You know that little moon icon on your phone, use it! This is something I've started doing recently and I sleep soundly through the night. If you constantly have your phone buzzing all throughout the night, that's going to disturb your sleep and you may even wake up, not good! It's a very simple, but effective, thing to do and I highly recommend pressing that do not disturb button before you head to bed.

Light a candle: This tip goes hand in hand with the sleep spray. I love to light a candle when I'm getting ready for bed and I tend to reach for warming scents as I find these very relaxing and enhance your cosy environment. I've been obsessed with the Jo Malone Sweet Almond and Macaroon candle, it's a gorgeous sweet scent which is relaxing and a super warming scent to wind down to.

Slather yourself in lotions and potions: 10/15 minutes before I settle down with a book, I love to focus on my skincare routine and apply some thick creams to ensure my skin is going to wake up looking fresh. By doing my skincare routine the same time every night it tells my body that it's the end of the day and it's time to wind down. Every now and then I'll apply an overnight mask which just helps to add moisture back into my skin. I love the Origins Drink-Up Intensive Overnight Mask as it smells divine and leaves your skin looking and feeling nourished. If you want to treat yourself before bed, this is the way to do it! Don't forget about your body too! I love to apply a thick body cream then pop on my pj's. The Clarins Moisture Riche Body Lotion is really nice for dry skin. It sinks in quickly and restores moisture back into those limbs.

MAC Brave Lipstick: Worth the Hype?

Aah, MAC lipsticks, familiar territory for many and the hype around these bad boys is still pretty prominent. Over the years my MAC Lipstick collection has grown a bit lot, and whenever I see a shade which is hyped up to the point where it becomes very hard to get hold of, I'm intrigued and want to know what the fuss is all about. Brave was one of those shades for me, but was it worth it?...

MAC Brave has become popular over the past couple of years, probably due to one of the Kardashians but I have no idea so don't quote me on that. At first I thought it was one of those brown-y nude shades as they were all the rage around a smililar time, but it's not at all. Brave is a lovely mauve-y pink shade, my favourite, and it's very wearable and flattering for daily use. If you're a fan of Plumful and/or Syrup from MAC, I think you'll like this.

The finish is a satin, meaning it's comfortable on the lips and doesn't dry down matte. It's not glossy by any means, but it gives a natural sheen to the lips. The staying power is pretty good, I do tend to top it up every now and then throughout the day, but it's not matte so that's to be expected.

Bare in mind the price of MAC lipsticks seems to go up every time I blink, I'm definitely more hesitant to try out a new shade, but I'm happy I did pick this up. Admittedly it is very similar to Plumful and Twig which I do already own, but as they are my most worn shades I don't mid having another one to add to my mauve lip family.

A Lazy Girl's Guide To Eyes.

Doing my eye makeup always takes the longest out of my whole routine. My base I can skim through in a couple of minutes, a quick slick of brow gel through the brows, then it gets to eyes and when I don't have time to create master smokey eye, I want something that looks good but with minimal effort. Here are a few tips if you can be a bit lazy, like me, when it comes to your eye makeup...

One shadow wonder: I think the most effortless way to add something to the eyes would be to grab your favourite cream shadow, apply it to the lid, and blend with your finger. Easy peasy. If I want something subtle which is going to brighten and open the eye, I opt for a champagne shade. My favourite is from Charlotte Tilbury and it's her Eyes To Mesmerise Cream Shadow in Jean. It's the perfect pretty shade to apply onto the lid to add a bit of shimmer. If you want something a bit darker, maybe your heading out for the evening, the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze is lovely. It's a gorgeous creamy bronze-y taupe shade which creates a beautiful amount of definition to the eyes. This paired with loads of mascara and you're good to go.

Trade your brush for a crayon: These crayon/pencil eyeshadow sticks were such a fab invention, props to whoever came up with that idea! They are the easiest things to apply above and below the lash line to create a nice smokey affect. My favourite formula, again comes from Charlotte Tilbury, are the Colour Chameleons and the shade I've been using at the moment is Dark Pearl. This is a lovely taupe-y purple shade, super blendable and stays put all day. Once you've applied this and blended it out it only takes up about a minute of your time.

Natural and matte: If you do have an eyeshadow palette you love, go for the natural matte shades, they look flawless and tend to be pretty foolproof. The Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette is my favourite matte palette out there. It has six shades, ranging from light to dark. There is one shimmer in there and that's the very first shade Venus, a gorgeous pearly highlight. My go-to look with this is Foxy on the lid, Naked 2 through the crease and Crave as a liner. They work so well together and once you find a combo you love you can create a pretty eye in no time.

Pencil Liner: Ditch the liquid liner if your hearts not in it, we all know what it could potentially end up looking like and sometimes the hassle isn't worth it. Go for a soft pencil instead and apply it to your upper and lower waterline. I find this gives such a quick and sexy defined look to the eyes. The Rodial Pencils are my faves at the moment, they are very creamy yet stay in place and don't smudge. I can literally do this in about 20 seconds and I find I don't need to add much else to my eyes. If you don't like liner on you lower lash line, keep to the upper lash line instead, you'll still see a difference and your lashes will appear fuller. Opt for brown if you want a softer look, or black for something more dramatic.

Rocking a Red Lip Day-to-Day.

I tend to save my red lipsticks for more evening occasions, they definitely get there wear around the festive period, but not so much the rest of the year. In 2017 I'm determined to get back into bold lipsticks, so I thought I would share a few products I love to pair with a red lip on the daily...

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer: I think when you're going for a bold lip you have to make sure your base is on point and looking flawless. A really easy way to achieve that is by using a high coverage concealer to spot conceal. I love to use this around my mouth to clean up my lipstick as well as anywhere else I need some extra coverage. You don't have to wear a high coverage foundation if that's not your thing, just make sure you have a good concealer on hand to perfect the skin.

Clinique Chubby Stick Contour: Sticking with the skin theme, I love to add a subtle contour when I wear a red lip. I think playing up your cheeks with contour and bronzer looks really nice with a red lip as it's not too distracting. This is a super easy way to contour, it's very blendable and looks seamless on the skin. Something I've been doing lately is applying it before my foundation to make sure it looks as flawless as possible. You literally swipe and blend, it's so quick.

NARS Lovejoy Blush: This is my first NARS blusher as I'm so in love. I've been looking for a winter appropriate blush that I can wear with a red lip that doesn't detract any attention from the lips. In the pan this looks super dark and I was kind of scared to wear it. After applying it for the first time I loved how it made my skin look. It's a brown/plum toned colour which adds a nice amount of warmth to the cheeks. I tend to steer clear of pink and peach tones blushes when I opt for a red lip, so this is perfect.

By Terry Ombre Black Star in Bronze Moon: During the day if I'm rocking a red lip, less is definitely more on the eyes. I like to add some colour, but no way will I attempt a smokey eye. This bronze shade is perfect as it adds depth to the eyes and looks fab paired with lashings of mascara. These are the easiest things to blend out and they last all day.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara: I don't skimp on the mascara when I apply a red lip. I love the whole big lashes and a bold lip look, it also makes it more wearable for everyday. I really rate Benefit mascaras and this makes the lashes look really defined and lengthened.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Outlaw: For every day I had to go with a liquid lipstick as they really do stand the test of time and last through the day. The Kat Von D ones are fab as they last well and feel really comfortable on the lips. I don't have to worry about topping it up every five minutes when I wear this one. The colour is a very classic red, which brightens the skin and also makes your teeth look whiter.

The 'I Got 3 Hours Sleep' Beauty Edit.

We all have those nights where sleep is a thing of the imagination. Whether we had to stay up late to finish a project, or the sleep gods just weren't on our side, we've all been there and have had to get up and go somewhere the next day. Here are a few tips and products I have to make myself feel a little less tired in the mornings...

L'Oreal Magic Lumi Primer: I always reach for a dewy base when my skin is feeling dull and tired, it can work wonders for the complexion. This is a very pearlescent shade which helps to illuminate and bring life back into the skin. Paired with a medium coverage foundation this is my go-to when I need a little pick-me-up.

Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit: I think concealer is essential any day of week, but particularly when we haven'e had enough shut eye. Bobbi Brown do some lovely concealers and this is a great heavy duty one, perfect for under the eyes. It doesn't crease on me if set with a powder, and I love how bright it makes my under eyes look. I always buy this is a couple of shades lighter than my skin tone so it really lifts the area.

Hourglass Surreal Light Edit: I can't stop mentioning this thing, but it's a great cheek palette and seems to fit into most blog posts I'm doing at the moment. The blush shades in this are perfect to add some colour back into skin and perk up the face. The pink-y shade on the right is my go-to and it adds a nice amount of radiance to the skin. I always recommend going with a brighter, pink toned blush as they really wake up the skin.

MAC Vanilla and All That Glitters Eyeshadow: I tend to steer away from darker bronze shade on my eyes when I'm looking tired as they can my eyes look more dull than they already are. All That Glitters is a gorgeous peachy champagne shade which I like to apply all over the lid. Using a lighter shade with shimmer is really going to brighten the eye area. I love to highlight my inner corner as well to further open the eyes. Vanilla is my favourite for this as it's a lovely creamy colour and it's perfect against my skin tone. A good highlight shade will be different for everyone so just keep swatching until you find one which compliments your complexion well.

Benefit Roller Lash: Always always always curl your lashes before mascara, especially when you've had a late night. This will really help to open your eyes. I always go for a lengthening mascara as well, at the moment I've been into the Benefit Roller Lash which is a great one for everyday. It gives the lashes nice length and definition and doesn't smudge under the eyes.

MAC Brave Lipstick: I always reach for pink-y purple lip when I'm tired. For some reason these tones always light up my face and make me look less tired. I recently picked up Brave from MAC and I'm adoring it for those early mornings. It really reminds me of Plumful, which I love, but more on the matte side.

My 3-Day Routine To Avoid Greasy Hair.

I tend to wash my hair every 3 days, depending on my schedule. I have very oily hair so I have a few tips and tricks up my sleeve which help me to look presentable when exiting the house. If you're looking to stop washing your hair so often, or you find your hair gets greasy quickly, here's a little routine to combat that...

Day 1: Wash, but don't blow dry: Of course it all starts with the washing of the hair. I like to use whatever hair shampoo and conditioner is on offer, so I don't have a preference. At the moment I'm using the L'Oreal Extraordinary Clay Balancing Shampoo and Conditioner. This duo is designed for those who have oily roots yet dry ends, an amazing concept and I love the way it's making my hair feel. The reason I say no to blow-drying my hair is because I find the more heat I use, the more product I end up using, and my hair can end up feeling clogged, especially at the roots. Enjoy your day - and if you're like me, your only day - of clean hair!

Day 2: Style it out: On second day hair I tend to experiment with styles and maybe I'll add in a few curls. My hair tends to feel a bit dryer and not as clean come the second day so I may put it in an up-do, or keep it down but add some Batiste Dry Shampoo to soak up any oil in the roots. If I pop my hair up, I'll either go for a braid or a classic pony tail, my hair has never done the whole messy bun thing, it never looks good. Invisibobbles are what I use when putting my hair up as they don't leave a kink, so if I change my mind halfway through the day and wear my hair down, it's not an issue. I will sometimes curl my hair too on day 2 just for something different, and the only extra hair products I use will be a heat protectant, hair spray, then maybe a texture spray of some kind. Your hair will have more hold to it on the second day, so I recommend curing it and styling it at this stage.

Day 3: Dry shampoo 'till the cows come home: This is the day where I don't go sparingly on the dry shampoo. By this point I've probably been touching my hair way more than I should, so the oils have really built up around the roots, a habit I want to kick in 2017 for sure. I'll either repeat my style from the day before, depending on how greasy my hair is, but 9 times out of 10 I'll go for a volumised classic pony tail. The dry shampoo will add the volume you need to the roots so it's as easy as scraping all your hair back and tying it up, leaving a few strands at the front if you wish. By keeping my hair out my face on the third day, if I am out and about, I know I wont be touching it so I can guarantee the dry shampoo will do it's job for the whole day.

Occasionally I'll get a fourth day out of it, in which case I'll repeat day three and pray I look okay.

Two For The Morning.

I don't normally switch up my skincare routine, I'm definitely a creature of habit and like to use the same products which I know work. When I find something else I love, I need to share it as it doesn't happen often. My morning skincare routine changes more than my evening, so here are a couple of products I've been enjoying lately...

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser: This is just a sample size but I've definitely been enjoying it while it's still going strong. I've had this since September, so it's lasted a long while and I've been loving using this alongside my Foreo Luna in the mornings. It's a really nice creamy cleanser which refreshes the face and leaves it looking radiant. The only way I can describe the scent is super fresh, like a cucumber, apple and ginger green juice...for some reason that's the first thing that comes to mind. It contains amino-acids which help maintain elasticity in the skin as well as cucumber to sooth.

Origins Original Skin Serum:  I used to use this a couple of years ago and I really loved the way it made my skin look and feel before applying makeup. Serums are definitely my weapon of choice in the mornings as oppose to an oil as they sink in a lot faster and don't leave a funny film on the skin. The key ingredient in this is Willowherb, which reduces dullness and discolouration, as well as restoring radiance back into the face. If you suffer with lacklustre skin, something notorious in the winter months, this is something I would recommend you looking into.

The Gym Goer's Beauty Edit.

The start of year is always the busiest for those gym goers. A new year and everyone wants get fitter and stronger and get a start on that summer bod. If that's you, then here are a few beauty essentials I feel you should keep with you when hitting that treadmill...

Origins VitaZing Moisturiser: I'm not the biggest makeup fan when I work out, but a little tinted moisturiser never hurt. If you like a little something something on the skin this is a really great product to keep in your gym bag. It comes out a grey colour and then it adjusts to your skin, giving you a nice glow and evened out look to the skin. It's definitely not a heavy base by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a good hydrating option.

Mitchum 48 Hour Pure Fresh Deodorant: Deodorant is obviously a must have when you work out and I love the ones from Mitchum because they are very hardcore. I like their stick formulas as their not too drying on the under arms and I feel like they actually do something. The fresh scent is very unoffensive and one I feel everyone can get along with. A little tip I have with deodorant as well is to apply it just before you go bed, I find this makes it even more sweat proof come the next day.

Caudalie Beauty Elixer: This is a life savour at the end of a workout, it makes be feel that little bit fresher when I'm making my journey back home. I'm not one to shower at the gym, I prefer to be in my own space and have a good proper cleanse, so a pick-me-up like this is great for when I'm done sweating out. I have the travel size and it's perfect for throwing in my bag. It's such a refreshing mist and I love the way it makes my skin feel.

Clinique High Impact Waterproof Mascara: If you fancy wearing a little bit more makeup to the gym then picking up a good waterproof, or smudge proof mascara, will be essential for you. I adore the Clinique mascaras, they are definitely worth the money. Their High Impact formula is great for defining the lashes naturally and adding a nice amount of length and volume, and it being waterproof means it will survive that cardio session.

Bobbi Brown Skin Serum Corrector: This is another one for those who prefer a bit more makeup, you can never go wrong with a corrector or concealer. For me, if I do wear makeup to the gym, it's normally a mix of this with some mascara and then the Origins moisturiser as a natural base. As it's a serum concealer so it's a lot more breathable under the eyes and offers a great amount of hydration.

Invisibobble: If you work out with your hair up, which I highly recommend, then I suggest getting a few invisibobbles. These are hairbands which don't leave a kink in the hair, perfect for when you work out and then have to be somewhere after. I have the brown ones, as I have brown hair, and they do actually hold your hair in place, so I think they're great.
