I tend to save my red lipsticks for more evening occasions, they definitely get there wear around the festive period, but not so much the rest of the year. In 2017 I'm determined to get back into bold lipsticks, so I thought I would share a few products I love to pair with a red lip on the daily...
Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer: I think when you're going for a bold lip you have to make sure your base is on point and looking flawless. A really easy way to achieve that is by using a high coverage concealer to spot conceal. I love to use this around my mouth to clean up my lipstick as well as anywhere else I need some extra coverage. You don't have to wear a high coverage foundation if that's not your thing, just make sure you have a good concealer on hand to perfect the skin.
Clinique Chubby Stick Contour: Sticking with the skin theme, I love to add a subtle contour when I wear a red lip. I think playing up your cheeks with contour and bronzer looks really nice with a red lip as it's not too distracting. This is a super easy way to contour, it's very blendable and looks seamless on the skin. Something I've been doing lately is applying it before my foundation to make sure it looks as flawless as possible. You literally swipe and blend, it's so quick.
NARS Lovejoy Blush: This is my first NARS blusher as I'm so in love. I've been looking for a winter appropriate blush that I can wear with a red lip that doesn't detract any attention from the lips. In the pan this looks super dark and I was kind of scared to wear it. After applying it for the first time I loved how it made my skin look. It's a brown/plum toned colour which adds a nice amount of warmth to the cheeks. I tend to steer clear of pink and peach tones blushes when I opt for a red lip, so this is perfect.
By Terry Ombre Black Star in Bronze Moon: During the day if I'm rocking a red lip, less is definitely more on the eyes. I like to add some colour, but no way will I attempt a smokey eye. This bronze shade is perfect as it adds depth to the eyes and looks fab paired with lashings of mascara. These are the easiest things to blend out and they last all day.
Benefit Roller Lash Mascara: I don't skimp on the mascara when I apply a red lip. I love the whole big lashes and a bold lip look, it also makes it more wearable for everyday. I really rate Benefit mascaras and this makes the lashes look really defined and lengthened.
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Outlaw: For every day I had to go with a liquid lipstick as they really do stand the test of time and last through the day. The Kat Von D ones are fab as they last well and feel really comfortable on the lips. I don't have to worry about topping it up every five minutes when I wear this one. The colour is a very classic red, which brightens the skin and also makes your teeth look whiter.
