My thoughts on one of the most hyped concealers of the season...

It's no secret that NARS have some great base products on the market. Since their Radiant Creamy Concealer hit the shelves, we all went mad, and since then every new release has been a similar story. Pot concealers are very hit and miss. Some can be excellent coverage, but super drying, and others can be too thick and cakey to use under the eyes. So, these new NARS soft matte concealers? How do they compare?...

So, I started off with the one shade, Custard, which I hoped would cover redness and any blemishes I may get around the face. It did a marvellous job if I'm honest, so I picked up Vanilla as well to see how that would hold up under the eyes. It was pretty awesome too.

We're off to a good start.

On the NARS website, there are 16 shades - please correct me if I'm wrong - which is impressive for a concealer launch I think. If you wander down to the drugstore, you'll be lucky to have more than 5 shades to pick from when it comes to concealers, so points to NARS here. Vanilla is the second lightest shade and Custard is somewhere further down the line. The fact there is one shade lighter than the one I have here makes me really hopeful that you guys with beautifully pale skin will be able to use this too. There dark shades are also great, so something for everyone.

Formula wise, I think it's pretty magical stuff. If I think of a pot concealer, especially one that's matte, I instantly think drying and cakey, not with these however. Somehow they manage to offer an insane amount of converge, yet staying very creamy and blendable, even under the eyes...say what?! I suffer with redness around my nose and chin, so for me, I want something will will last all day, not cake up, and cover everything I need covering. Custard is the perfect match for my skin tone so I really enjoy using this for those 'around-the-face' purposes. I tested it out under the eyes before going out and buying another one, I was hesitant at first, but it worked and I love it. It's not a small job covering my under-eye bags, no matter how much sleep I get, they are there waiting for me in the morning. Vanilla is a 1-2 shades lighter than my skin tone, and has more of a pinky undertone, making it perfect to brighten and lift under the eyes, as well as correcting those dark tones.

Being a thicker consistency, it lasts really well throughout the day. It doesn't cake under my eyes, which is so good, and my mascara doesn't smudge underneath either. Because it's matte as well, it's not going to glide around the face and slip around when you blend other products over the top. I use my fingers to apply this, then further blend it out with my beauty blender and I love the way it looks.

This retails for £23, not too bad, and you get 6.2g of product. For all you students out there, pick this up from ASOS where you'll get 10% off!  I find I don't go through pot concealers as quickly as they do offer a more intense colour pay off. Although, this does feel so creamy and gorgeous that I feel I could swirl my finger around the pot for hours...

Moving on...would I say this is worth the hype? Yes, yes, yes. It's a really great concealer to have around if you are ever in need for some serious coverage. I have dry skin, and I don't have a issue using this, I feel like it would be even better on oily skin too, so fab for everyone, yay. If you have tried this, please let me know your thoughts. If you haven't picked this up yet, then I know what you'll be doing this weekend...
