Spring Base.

When Spring rolls around, my base changes and I put my full coverage foundations aside to make room for some lighter options. I still like to cover up a few problems areas, such as redness around my nose and my dark circles, but on the whole I don't enjoy a lot of makeup on my face when the weather starts to warm up.

Workspace Inspo.

When I finish university next month I'll be back home and I really want to get my workspace in check. At the moment, I basically use my laptop either on my makeup vanity/desk upstairs or in the dining room, but I'm dying to create an office like environment to work in. This calls for a lot of Pinterest stalking and dreaming about everything in West Elm...I really want to create a minimal desk area with a nice photo wall and of course a plant here and there, so here are a few spaces I love!

Collection Blush & Glow.

There have been so many good cheek palettes released over the past 6 months or so, and I have to say, drugstore brands are killing it. Collection have their fair share of palettes, and the cheek ones are fab. This Blush and Glow Palette is amazing, it has a bronzer, two blushes and a highlighter in one simple palette, perfect for taking away with you.

Everyday Drugstore Hair Staples.

Drugstore haircare is something I love, they work well and you really don't have to pay a lot to find something that's suitable for your hair's needs. I've been testing out a couple of new products which I'm in love with and have been using every time I wash my hair - about 2-3 times a week - and I love the results I get. For reference my hair is very flat and can look dry at the ends, thanks to the ombre I got last summer, so these products I love for adding a bit more volume and making my hair seem sleeker.

2016 Spring/Summer Swimwear Edit.

Since every blogger and celebrity on the internet have been posting streams of photos of them at Coachella, I have been so excited for summer to roll around. I'm going on a couple of holidays this summer, one beachy, and one not so much, but for those of you who will be hitting up some warmer weather I thought I'd throw together my favourite swimwear picks. A lot of them are from ASOS, that's mainly because they have some great brands, some fab ranges, they're reasonably priced and easily accessible.

One For the Brows.

Brow pomades are something I've wanted to try for a while now, and I was searching high and low for one I may like. The Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade was top of the list, however, after heading to an Illamasqua counter, their Precision Brow Gel in Strike pipped it to the post.

Spring Beauty Switch Up.

I love chaining up the products I use when a new season roles around as Spring is here, there have been a few things I've switched up for these (slightly) warmer months. Here in the UK, the sun is out, as are the shorts, well maybe not that far, but it's definitely warmer.

Dark Chocolate and Coconut Energy Bites.

Finding yummy, healthy (isn) treats can be hard, especially if you're only after something small. I've been making these little energy balls a lot lately and I thought it was about time to share them with you all. These are perfect to make on a Sunday night and have them throughout the week as your 4pm snack.

What you'll need:
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup honey
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup dark chocolate (chips, or roughly cut)
1/4 cup desiccated coconut

What to do:
These don't need much of a method I must say, they're very easy and basically consist of throwing everything into a bowl and getting your hands dirty! I always blend up my oats first, ever so slightly, to ensure the oats aren't too big and are easy to combine. Once I've done that I'll add in all the other ingredients and get mixing.
Roll them up into balls, this recipe should make 8-10, and you can either eat them straight away, or set them in the fridge so the wet ingredients have a time to set.

Winding Down for the Night.

Sleep is something I hugely appreciate, but getting to sleep I can find challenging. I'm a night owl by nature, but that means the mornings are mostly feared and I find it hard to switch of when I want to sleep, and that's something I've been trying to change. After reading countless articles and blog posts on the tricks of getting to sleep soundly, I thought I'd add my own to the mix and share them with you today.

Get off the laptop
This is one of those practice what you preach situations, and one I may not be the best at. Even though when I switch off any technology I can find myself switching off too, it's still something I can struggle to do. Lately, I've been trying my hardest to put my laptop down an hour or so before I head to bed, to ensure my brain isn't switched on when I hit the pillow. Don't get me wrong, I do watch an episode or two on TV, but honestly, it doesn't have the same effect on me as being on laptop all night, if anything it helps me to relax further and stop any thoughts from running around in my head. Try reading a book before bed too to ensure ultimate relaxation too

Try a calming tea
There are loads of teas on the market with ingredients such as camomile and lavender, the perfect sleep agents. Just before you go to bed it's nice to have a cuppa to warm up and relax the body, so why not kill two birds with one stone and go for one with calming properties to help relax the mind too. I love having a cup of tea in the bath to really calm my senses - but don't get too comfortable in there!

Invest in a pillow or room spray
If you're a fan of room sprays, why not pick one up which is designed to help you get to sleep faster, I definitely find them helpful. The This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Mist is very loved, as well as the Rituals Yin Bed and Body Mist, both of these have a calming relaxing scent to help you drift off. I love to spray these on my pillows before I go to bed, I find they really help me get to sleep faster.

Keep busy
It's an obvious one maybe, but it's key. If you're out and about during the day, exercising, working and just generally being a busy bee, you'll naturally be more tired when the night comes. I always find if I've been out for the whole day, or working, I look forward to going to bed and can do with a lot more ease. If you work from home, go for a walk or to the gym after your day.

Always make your bed
Again, this is something on a busy day I can forget, but it's an important tip for the mind. Once you get out of bed, stay out, and make it. If you're one to sit and laze around for the whole morning, or the whole day, the idea of a 'bed' will start to lose it's meaning. This is something I've recently been trying as I do love the comfort of my sheets, it may sounds crazy, but it works. Keep your bed as something you sleep in, and mentally, it'll be a lot easier to drift off.

Rosie for Autograph: Sparkle and Magic.

The Rosie Huntington Whitely collaboration with Marks & Spencer's has been everywhere, and I thought I would go ahead and try something out for myself. First the packaging is just wow, rose gold everything, very Charlotte Tilbury, and the selection of products and colours are beautiful. The two things I really wanted to pick up was an eye stick, check, and a blush, but they didn't have the shade I wanted in stock, so I'll pick that one up another time.

When I was swatching the eyeshadow sticks, I was going to for a classic taupe, my go-to, but I opted for something different and a shade I don't already own in stick form, Sparkle and Magic. At £12.50 a pop, these aren't bad at all, and they definitely look like they're worth more. This shade is lovely olive green, with a slightly taupe undertone making a fairly natural olive shade which isn't too in your face and bold. The formula is super creamy and blends like a dream but stays put all day. There are only four shades to choose from, but they are all very wearable and gorgeous to use as a base or on their own.

I will definitely be going back for more, like I said, the blush is on my list, and there were a few other bits and bobs which caught my eye whist browsing the stand.

Makeup Shakeup #3

As spring has sprung I thought I would share another makeup shakeup post with you! This is where I show a few of the beauty bits my face has been loving lately, so let's jump in.

Mineral powder foundation was always something I steered clear of as my skin tends to be more on the dryer side, however I've been trying it and I do like it I have to say. I've been using the Bare Minerals Original Foundation with a kabuki brush and I've been loving how natural and flawless my skin looks after. I would always make sure to prep the skin well before, so it doesn't cling to any dry patches, but it blends in seamlessly and they have a great shade range. If you've always been a bit put off by powder foundations as you think they'll end up looking cakey, I would say give it a go as you may be surprised.
Next for face is a blush, and the reason why I've been loving this is simply the fact that I thought I lost it and then I found it and now I'm back in love. The Balm Frat Boy Blush is a beautiful matte coral pink shade which adds a natural flush to the cheeks. I love the packaging of The Balm products and this one doesn't disappoint. The formula is super buttery and easy to blend on the cheeks, and it lasts all day.

Moving on the eyes I've been using the Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in Amber Haze a lot and I love how it compliments my hazel eyes. Charlotte has lots of different shades for different eye colours so make sure to check out the one for you! This one in particular is a beautiful bronze shade with an almost purple-y undertone which looks stunning and makes it a really unique shade. These are so creamy and blend well, but once they set they aren't going anywhere! I've also been back on the liner bandwagon. For a while I was just using a pencil and smudging it out, but I'm back using my Soap and Glory Supercat Liner and loving it. This is a fab liquid liner if you're on a budget, it's very black, doesn't smudge and lasts all day. The nib is very fine and easy to use too.

On the lips I've been loving the shade Grenadine from Clarins. This is part of their Joli Rouge range and it's such a gorgeous moisturising formula which sits so comfortably on the lips. The shade is a nice rosy pink with a slight brown feel to it, very on trend. I love these lipsticks and would definitely recommend this shade for everyday wear.
